Very short life July 31, 2008 T. C. Schneider (arizona) Like most of my experience so far with florescent lamp bulbs, the life span is too short to make up the extra cost compared to an incandescent bulb. This one lasted a few months, but but more importantly, I received a small fraction of its' advertised hours of life (6000) -- I got about 400 before it died. I read somewhere that you get better life out of fluorescent lamp bulbs if they are not cycled frequently, and let run longer (e.g. not good for a quick bathroom break), but this particular lamp was cycle maybe 2 times per day, and usually left on for 1 hour minumum. I'll continue to buy these types of bulbs, mainly for the reduced heat, but I won't be buying this one again.
3 Way compact lights don't fit inside standard harps June 2, 2008 Robert D. Malarkey I bought a Sylvania 3-way 30-70-100 bulb, and the light is great. However it will not fit into a single table or floor lamp in my house - the base is too wide to close the harp. In the case of one of the table lamps the harp is too low - but that's fixable by getting a taller harp.
They work for me!! May 24, 2008 DeepFreeze3 (Honolulu, HI - U.S.A.) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Being that these 3-way CFL blubs were going into lamps that would be used while watching hours of TV programming off of my DVR, I wanted light that allowed me to see, but that was relaxing & soothing at the same time. The "soft white" feature these Sylvania bulbs have gives me exactly that!! They also provide all the light that I want, when I want it. Unlike standard CFL's, I don't have to wait for these bulbs to get bright. All I need to get what I want is to just, simply, flick a switch. Unlike other reviewers, this one is totally satisfied, and impressed, with the two, 3-way CFL bulbs that are manufactured by Sylvania. This purchase was the second time I've gotten bulbs from them, and I couldn't be happier!!
Not a warm white bulb February 23, 2008 Randy (Loomis, CA USA) 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
This bulb is perhaps 1/2" taller than the tungsten 3-way it replaced and stays full diameter all the way to the top-- in my floor lamp the harp was short enough that it was a little difficult to get into place to start it in the socket. While the brightness of the three settings is comparable to the old 3-way, this lamp has a noticeable "cold white" or blue-white color that I find typical of all but a few of the newer CFEL bulbs.
Lasted less than 3 months! December 15, 2007 R. Parsons (Western WA) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
Besides the bulk, this bulb lasted less than 3 months. Sometimes it was nearly impossible to discern the difference between the two brightest settings, neither bright enough to read from. Would only consider again if I needed a low wattage bulb for a timer, but since it only lasted a few weeks, I consider it to be unreliable even for that purpose.
