Artful, Soothing and Educational
With its illuminating shell and pretty, artful design, the Twilight Ladybug complements any nursery or child's room. Both plush and soft and built to last, this nightlight is best placed on the floor in the center of the room, where it projects a starry night sky onto the ceiling and walls. For interactive fun, parents can also sit with their children and identify and describe the features of seven major constellations, including the Big Dipper and Pegasus, with the help of the beautifully illustrated Star Guide. The Twilight Ladybug also includes a sweet and charming story about how Twilight Ladybug, separated from his father, uses the constellations to find his way home.

User-Friendly Operation
Simply pressing the button on the ladybug's wings ignites the stars and keeps them glowing for a full 45 minutes--just enough time for most children to drift into sleep. At this point, the Twilight Ladybug automatically shuts off to preserve battery life. Another push of the button reactivates the projection. In addition, the easy selection of the three soothing color choices allow your child not only to learn to identify different colors, but also to truly experience them as well. Ruby red offers a rich, warm feeling; sapphire blue is peaceful; and emerald green inspires feelings of harmony and renewal. The warm glow the Twilight Ladybug emits also serves as a nightlight that makes the darkness less frightening.

Makes a Great Gift
A great gift for children who are afraid of the dark, or even adults who have trouble falling asleep, the Twilight Ladybug runs on three "AAA" batteries (included). It also comes with a certificate of adoption, and measures a compact 14.0 x 5.0 inches (WxH), so it's easy to display and store.

Amazon.com Product Description
Let your child experience the tranquility of sleeping under a bed of stars every night with the clever Twilight Ladybug, the latest friend in Cloud b's line of sleep companions. Fussy babies, darkness-fearing toddlers, and even insomniac adults will experience peacefulness and delight as this friendly plush ladybug, positioned on the floor in the center of a room, projects a starry night sky onto ceiling and walls from the workings under her plastic wings.

The Twilight Ladybug projects eight constellations and offers a choice of three relaxing nightlight colors.

Pressing the button on the ladybug's wings illuminates the stars and keeps them glowing for 45 minutes -- just enough time for drifting off to sleep -- before automatically shutting off to preserve battery life. The Twilight Ladybug offers a choice of three soothing colors in hues that are known for their ability to encourage relaxation: ruby red promotes warmth; sapphire blue for peace and sleep; and emerald green, known for harmony and renewal. Of the three, there is certain to be one that complements the color scheme of baby's room. From where she is stationed, the ladybug emits a warm glow in the color of choice, doubling as a comforting nightlight.

Twilight Ladybug
The adorable ladybug comes with a story book and constellation guide.
In addition to its calming effect, Twilight Ladybug also features an educational component. Among the clusters of stars sprinkled across the ceiling are eight recognizable constellations. The accompanying guide tells the warm-hearted story about how Twilight Ladybug got separated from her father and used the constellations to find her way home, which is a sweet way to introduce the constellations and encourage kids to learn their locations. An included booklet maps out which area of Twilight Ladybug's shell the constellations are projected from, so stargazers will know where to look for them on the ceiling. The booklet also gives a brief explanation of each constellation and its most notable features.

In the center of the sky is Orion the hunter, most easily recognizable by the three stars that make up his belt. At the 11:00 position, both Draco the dragon and The Little Dipper can be spotted. The Little Dipper is more visible because the North Star, Polaris, highlights the end of its handle. The North Star used to be positioned within Draco but movement in the skies shifted it over to The Little Dipper over time. In the upper right side of the sky (and the ladybug's wings), is Canis Major (The Greater Dog), which hosts the brightest star in the sky, Sirius, at a point in the dog's neck. Right next to Canis Major is Cepheus, a little house with a pointed roof. In the lower right quadrant of the sky, Pegasus -- the winged horse -- is visible. He is easiest to find by locating the square that makes up the center of his body first. On the south side of the sky (between 6 and 7:00), viewers can see two stick figure people. These are Gemini, the twins. And, finally, the best known constellation -- The Big Dipper -- can be found at 9:00. This is really two constellations in one as The Big Dipper makes up the tail end of the constellation Ursa Major, the Big Bear.

A unique product, the Twilight Ladybug makes a thoughtful and creative baby gift to help infants or overtired moms grab a few hours of sleep. At only 14 inches long and 5 inches high, this interactive nightlight puts a lot of punch in a small package and is surprisingly easy to work. Each ladybug comes with its own certificate of adoption and runs on three AAA batteries, which are included.

5 out of 5 stars Very Happy!   July 12, 2008

I purchased the twilight turtle several years ago for my daughter and now the twilight ladybug for my son. Both are great. I noted that a couple of the reviewers thought the lights weren't bright enough. My advice - be sure your batteries are good. When they start to run out of juice the stars become very dim to the point that only the shell is lit up.

Secondly, several reviewers have complained that it doesn't do more (i.e. play music and spin). To this, I say "Geez, shall it also forward email, receive phone messages, and send faxes to your boss?" The idea with this product is that children can lay it on their beds, its soft and snuggly, and not easily broken. It's simple and more than functional...its beautiful.

As a final perk, my daughter is now old enough that we really enjoy finding the constellations together. It's a great product.

5 out of 5 stars Ladybug saved our marriage!!!   July 2, 2008
J. Baldina (Raleigh, NC USA)
When our almost-three-year-old daughter suddenly began refusing to go to sleep unless one of us stayed in her room, we tried everything. We let her "cry it out" - only one night, because she sobbed and screamed for over an hour before we finally gave in. So one of us stayed in the room with her until she fell asleep, every night. Sometimes we would be in there until 11pm. (She goes to bed at 9:30). Which meant, absolutely no "together time" for us as a couple. We thought it was a stage, just a few nights. Over a month later, we were frantic. We consulted our pediatrician, who gave a few tips, including "get some stars", but mostly said "She'll grow out of it. . . eventually!"

I ordered this ladybug after reading the reviews and waited impatiently the four days until it arrived. When I took it out of the package, she went nuts. She wouldn't let go of it. She carried it around with her everywhere. She sat it next to her on the couch so it could watch tv with her and narrated the storyline to it. When, a couple of hours later, I finally found the tiny screwdriver so I could put batteries in it and show her it actually LIT UP she was ecstatic. I have literally never seen her so excited over a toy.

I explained that Ladybug would now be staying with her instead of Mommy and Papa at night. She said she understood. Still, there was a bit of a struggle when it actually came time for us to leave. But she did let us leave. And since then (we've had it over 2 weeks) she is willing to sleep by herself every night, as long as Ladybug is right beside her. She loves to click the buttons to change the colors while she drifts off. But mostly she likes the red glow.

I realize every child is different, and what works for one might not for another, but this toy saved us. Worth every penny.

5 out of 5 stars Great product!   June 23, 2008

I ordered this ladybug for my 4-year-old daughter who is afraid of the dark. I wanted something to give a little light in her room, but not so bright that she wouldn't be able to sleep. This night light is perfect. The stars give just enough light, and the timer is great. We keep the light on as she falls asleep, and then it turns off automatically after 45 minutes. We love this nightlight!
