2 out of 5 stars Cooks way too Hot   November 2, 2008

I rarely use my crock pot. It has a hot spot that burns the food everytime I use it. So needless to say I don't use it as much as I would like. Burns the food in the hot spot area on the low setting, never use the high setting way too hot. Also I think the crock is really heavy and hard to handle for clean-up.

A six quart cooker ought to have non-slip feet, but this item has the exact opposite - three enameled metal bumps on the bottom that are virtually frictionless. One little nudge and this thing slides quite freely across a counter top. Not good for a product meant to hold six quarts of scalding hot food for long periods of time. And if the ceramic pot liner should break, you can't get a replacement - everyplace that once sold them stopped because they almost always break in shipping.

4 out of 5 stars Easy cooking   May 3, 2008

The only crockpot I ever had was clumsy - round, ceramic, and very difficult to clean. Thi slow cooker does exactly what it says it will do. The shape and size afford lots of room, and I love the fact that the bowl lifts out for easy cleaning. I've used it only on the low setting so far, and both times my recipes came out delicious! I have no complaints about this slow cooker and, except for the fact that I need to find a place to store it when not in use, I love it! The price was right, and it serves my purposes well!

This is a great product. I've never owned a slow cooker before and decided it was time to have one. I chose the Hamilton Beach for its price and value. Everything I've cooked in it has turned out juicy and tender. The recipes that come with it have been fun to try (esp. the roast beef sandwiches). The lid seals nicely. I haven't yet traveled with it, but the lid locks are very tight, so I can't imagine anything could leak out. I would definitely recommend this product to anyone in the market for a slow cooker.

4 out of 5 stars Just what I wanted   February 13, 2008

I purchased this slow cooker after reading reviews on the web from multiple sources and I'm very pleased with it after using it four times in three weeks. Holds a chicken or half turkey breast perfectly in the oval-shaped crock, with room for lots of veggies etc. No fancy features on the controls, but the spoon is useful, and the clear glass lid seals to keep liquids in. Negatives: It requires a big storage space when not in use, and needs to be treated with care because the crock is breakable. But if you plan to use it once a week or so, it's worth having.
