Amazon.com Review One look at this rubbery bakeware and those uninformed about silicone will laugh at the possibility that it's actually safe to bake in it. But safe it is and KitchenAid is just one of many bakeware manufacturers that is producing pans in this revolutionary material. Made of FDA-approved food-grade silicone, this 9-by-9-inch square cake pan bakes your prize-winning fudge brownies just as evenly as your metal pans and at temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, this silicone pan has the benefit of being safe for the refrigerator, freezer, and microwave and can withstand sudden temperature changes from one extreme to another without buckling. The nonstick surface releases brownies easily and is safe for use with metal utensils aside from knives or serrated blades. Oversized rims make the pan easy to lift and transfer to and from from the oven. The only noticeable difference with silicone is that the pans feel a little wobbly as you carry them filled with batter from tabletop to oven and vice versa. Placing this cake pan on a baking sheet will offer better stability for transferring baked goods and provide a level cooking surface in the oven. For easy cleanup, this pan is dishwasher-safe and will retain its nonstick cooking surface through hundreds of dishwasher cycles. KitchenAid provides a one-year hassle-free replacement warranty plus a lifetime limited warranty on this pan. --Cristina Vaamonde

I'm throwing mines out February 29, 2008 Just a careful consumer 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this pan because I wanted something that was no-stick and 'modern', and there were many good reviews so I thought I'd try this. The pan is TOO soft which means that you have to put a baking tray or something under it to support it otherwise it is too flimsy to hold the weight of the food. The biggest problem is the chemical smell that comes from the pan when it is in the oven. It makes you wonder what might be leeching out of the silicone and into your food. The smell can even transfer onto the food itself depending on what you are baking. I tried lining it with tin foil just to protect the food, but I still didn't like that I could smell the fumes coming out of the oven so I stopped using it altogether. I am throwing the pan out, and would just buy a 'regular' baking pan next time.
Maybe as a hat? March 1, 2007 D. Steinlage 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Sorry, I didn't like this pan at all. Once the item was baked, no problem. Stuff came out of the pan, sometimes a little residue but nothing to cry about. The real problem is that food is heavy, and the silicone is too pliable. You pick the thing up to put it in the oven and the whole thing bends in half and the food threatens to slide right out. So then I have to use a cookie sheet to support the bottom, but this in my mind constitutes a design flaw (why am I buying this pan if I have to use two pans to cook with it?). Perhaps you would not have the same problem with the smaller/narrower pans, as they would have a bit more support, but for a large open pan like this, it's just not convenient to use. Had to give it to the Goodwill, hoping that it was an act of charity!
Silicone bakeware ROCKS! March 15, 2006 Tia L. Darrow (Calhan, Colorado USA) 7 out of 8 found this review helpful
Need to bake something sticky and gooey? This bakeware will make your life easier! Nothing sticks to it! And, also a wonderful thing, storage is easy because you can cram it into a smaller space due to its flexibility!
Square Cake pan March 13, 2006 PR (Texas) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
The pan is hard to handle if you are not careful. I have only used it one time, and I wasn't that impressed. I find it just as easy to use a regular pan.
Super Bakewear! February 18, 2006 Deborah K. Anderson (Rockton, IL USA) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I've made cornbread in it & my only "suggestion" is to be careful your food just doesn't slip right out of the pan after taking it out of the oven! Although flexible, the batter was nicely contained on it's way into the oven...I didn't need to put a cookie sheet under it for support. I think I'll buy some additional bakeware like this in the future.
