Amazon.com Review Bandleader and inventor Fred Waring introduced the first blender in 1936; more than 60 years later the Waring blender remains the standard for the field. Tall and old-fashioned looking with a plated metallic finish on its base, this blender will crush ice and blend frozen fruit beautifully in a few seconds. This blender feels sturdy: the lid, with a cap that doubles as a 1-ounce measurer, fits securely, and the pitcher, made of thick, ridged glass, won't wobble. Many chefs prefer a blender rather than a food processor for soups and creamy sauces--the blades of a good blender whirl more quickly than those of a food processor and will refine a thin liquid such as cream of tomato soup to an incomparably silky texture. This blender is definitely up to that task. The fixed, self-cleaning stainless-steel blades on the base of the pitcher mean the lid is the only separate part to wash. --Maria Dolan

When it comes to blending... August 29, 2008 Eric Patat (Alabaster, AL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We purchased this blender to make fruit smoothies primarily and it hasn't disappointed. It isn't too loud (but it is loud) and the simple toggle switch is a welcome change from blenders with so many speed selections. The only downside is the pitcher does not seem to be dishwasher safe. I'm happy with this purchase and would buy it again.
Someone should be fired for this one, and their house burned down for good measure. August 29, 2008 Nathaniel Z. Eastman (Richmond, IN.) This is an expensive blender, and that's fine. But I was a fool for buying it. The seal between the base of the jar and the blade assembly leaks like nothing I've ever seen, and has since its second(!) use. On the third use, the blade assembly broke apart like it was made of graham crackers. According to Waring, neither the broken blades not the leaking assembly are covered by the warranty, despite the blender being less than thirty days old. I don't put blenders through a lot -- all I ever did with my Waring Pro was make hummus. Since the broken blade ruined batch #3, I figure my hummus has cost me about $70 a pint. So I'm never getting another Waring, and I can't in good conscience recommend the brand. Heed the reviews. Don't waste your money.
Best Blender Ever August 4, 2008 Peter (NYC) This is by far the best blender out on the market. Perfect for making margarita's and fruit smothies. Very good quality and easy to clean. Seems like it will last for years.
Waring is not what it used to be, horrible customer service, avoid June 25, 2008 Y. Tsai (NY) I don't typically write product reviews, but my horrible experience obliged me to write this one. I purchased this blender from Starbucks about 6 months ago. It worked great until about a week ago when the blender started to have trouble spinning to speed. A few days ago, the blender started to give off a strong electrical/burning smell so I immediately stopped using the blender and called customer service. As some of the other reviews mentioned, Waring customer service and their warranty are horrible! Definitely not what someone would expect from a company with such high reputation or a high priced product. Even though my blender was clearly under warranty, they required me to send it in at my own cost. Once they receive it, "they will determine whether it will be repaired under warranty or if there will be charges". They would not even give an estimate for the turnaround. So basically, you'd have to send it in at your own cost, then wait for them to look at it and possibly have to pay extra money, and get a repaired/previously defective product back. This, of course, could mean at least a few weeks without a blender to use. My previous blender was a cheap Black & Decker model. It crapped out after about 9 months of use (still 50% longer than the Waring costing about 5x the price). When it crapped out, Black & Decker simply shipped me a brand new replacement and asked me to mail them the power cord cut from the blender. So, be warned. Waring is still charging for its previous reputation, but that reputation will probably not last much longer as the new ownership is apparently tarnishing the brand and destroying its value. The quality of their product is clearly not what it used to be, and the customer service is outrageously bad. I would definitely not buy another Waring product again.
Loves the Pina Colada June 3, 2008 Glenn A. Fitzgerald (Buffalo) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Chops ice smoothly into my perfect umbrella drinks. Simple and reliable. I did a ton of research into this product and I am very happy with the performance. Commercial quality all the way.
