Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
This is the blender of the future. It performs all the traditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning ice cream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter than old-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape the sides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberry daiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks up to the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing 75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté. --Dana Van Nest

Editor's Choice:KitchenAid's five-speed blender has a number of functions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blender under $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulse function, which works at any of the speeds--a really nice touch. The blender's 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it more manageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart.

Product Description
Whirl up a fruit and yogurt smoothie to get your morning off to a healthy and energetic start. Or wind down after work with an icy cold margarita. But that's not all: chop ice, grind coffee beans, puree soup and much, much more.

1 out of 5 stars great blender - till it broke after 1.5 years   July 10, 2008

I expect a high-end blender such as this to last for more than a year and a half. And, of course, Kitchen Aid's warranty is for one year! Argh.

1 out of 5 stars Engineering Flaws make it a poor choice   July 4, 2008

The blade is a poor design and has a hard time making margaritas. The coupler between the motor and the blades has shredded twice now, leaving parties hanging. Shoot the product manager, this is a poor excuse for a $150 blender.

1 out of 5 stars Expensive Blender = Great Paper Weight   March 3, 2008

Wow, we were excited when we bought this expensive blender.

It worked amazing... for about 2 weeks. Over the course of 1 year we used it a total of 20 times, and each time the blender's performance declined. Right now it's basically on life support, and I'm 2 minutes from pulling the plug. I hate it, and I want it to die.

Today, I wanted to make a smoothie, and the blender started making sounds like it had pneumonia. I glanced at the words "ice crusher" on the machine, and remembered the 4 huge chunks of ice leftover in the blender from my last shake-making fest. It should be labeled "ice slapper."

But, this review has come across as too negative. On the positive side, KitchenAid's marketing team must be phenomenal because they convinced me to pay $100 for a worthless piece of crap.

Does anybody have KitchenAid's marketing team's email address? Because I'd like to have them work for my business. I'm sure they could make me a lot of money selling the crap I make.
