Although there is a micro difference in the cut of the blades (a hair narrower), and the black things on the underside are taller, again by a noticeable hair, and the blade section shorter, in the end it is the same height as the old and this not only fits our Hamilton Beach Blender Type 814 (14-speed, also labeled the "ice breaker") just right, it is easier to unscrew AND it does a much better job of blending than the original ever did. The original used to balk just to puree cottage cheese. I just made a pasta sauce that involved chickpeas, fresh herbs and tomatoes. Piece of cake, under a minute, required little scraping down. I'm happy. Took another reviewer's advice and also purchased a new O ring. I also recommend it.

I bought this blade assembly for an older Hamilton Beach blender (model # 600-1). It fit perfectly into the pitcher's bottom screw cap, but there is a slight difference (about 1/16 inch) in the depth it extends into the blender's base unit. This difference causes the pitcher assembly to ride just a little high on the base unit, and makes for a slightly unstable fitting. I discovered that if you take a second o-ring seal (rubber gasket) and place it under the blade assembly before you screw on the bottom screw cap (so that there is a o-ring seal above AND below the blade assembly), it makes up for the height difference and fits securely into the base unit. For the minimum cost, you might want to go ahead and order a second o-ring seal at the same time.

I was making ice cream last night and just got my new blade. I was a little worried, as I was blending up mango (not yet ripe) with sugar water and thought it may be a little rough trying to chop it all up. Not at all! The new blade worked like magic and was better than the blade that came with the blender initially! Definitely recommend! Can't beat the price either!
