Product Description Kershaw brings you graceful design, flawless function and the sharpest factory edge on kitchen cutlery you will ever see. These fine pieces of cutlery are made from VG-10 steel with 16 layers of high carbon stainless steel on either side. That's 33 layers of quality steel producing a unique look. The Sun Classic line features Kershaw's uniquely stable 'D' shape handle design that rests precisely in the curve of the fingers for a better grip. The black PakkaWood handle provides the beauty of genuine wood, but Kershaw impregnates the wood with waterproof resign making them more durable.

Sharp and Sharp September 19, 2007 Tom B. (New Hampshire) I've been using my Shun set for about 3 weeks and could not be happier. These knives are so sharp out of the box that I believe I could shave with them. The problem is I look for any excuse to use them, buy some apples for apple pie (eat apple pie)LOL. The block with the Shun logo is a piece if art and when the knives come out they are truly a conversation piece function and beauty. The only thing I found lacking in this set is a 6-inch utility knife which I just ordered.
Just fantastic August 31, 2007 Jason Rugolo (Scottsdale, Arizona USA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I'm somewhat of a knife snob. Let me tell you, if you're considering buying expensive knives, look no further. These are the best for the money you can buy. Much better than Henckels, and better in my opinion than Wushtof. There's nothing else to say, buy these. On a further note, this set fit my needs the best. The 10" chef's knife is my favorite, and I much prefer that length over 8". The bread knife is a necessity, as well as the pairing knife. The 6" chef's knife is nice when you don't want or need to handle the extra 4" of the larger one, and the 9" slicing knife comes bascially free with the set (when compared to other sets). It is nice to use when the knife will be buried in what it is cutting. Its thinner blade allows more manuevering. These knives are so sharp you will find it hard to believe if you're not familiar with knives of this quality.
