3 out of 5 stars Just okay...   November 19, 2008

This knife is not as good as another ceramic knife (which was more expensive) that I own. The blade is thinner and has chipped twice since I received it. I would recommend spending a little more for a better quality product.

disappointing, because not sharp on reciept, and requires a special tool for sharpening.

5 out of 5 stars Doubted It!   March 26, 2007

Seriously I doubted this knife would live up to my expectations. I first got it and thought it maybe wasn't sharp enough. I've never used ceramic knives before and now I've used it a couple times I will never buy any other kind again. I am sold on ceramic knives. I don't know how durable it is but I put it back into it's box after hand washing it just to be careful because it cuts like a dream. I've cut chicken breast, green onions, bell peppers, steak, pork, carrots, broccoli, all sorts of stuff just to try it out through meats, veggies and fruits. I put it on the chicken breast at one end and pulled it right through in one clean cut. I cam straight down on the green onions just to make sure I move it a smidge anyways to cut through. Seriously I won't use those metal knives I got for my wedding gifts or christmas gifts any more it's ceramic all the way for me. I also nearly cut through my finger nail but luckily was fast enough to stop but I have a chip on the top of my nail now so carefull.

I am so pleased with the Ceramic Chef's knife... it is amazingly sharp and holds it's edge beautifully... feels good in your hand and glides through various foods... good for slicing tomatoes and lettuce... doesn't cause the edges to turn brown...

Great tool, fantastic price.

4 out of 5 stars A solid knife at the price   August 10, 2005

I bought this knife looking for a ceramic blade to use as a chef's knife. This isn't quite it.

This is a good knife - it's inexpensive, it holds an edge well, it looks good, and since it's ceramic and plastic, it's basically zero-maintenance. Its weight and balance is good, but the handle, while comfortable, doesn't provide a lot of control over the blade for fine work.

As a general kitchen knife, this is good. But it's not quite big enough to be a great chef's knife (the blade lacks the height to guide effectively as you chop, and it might be a little too short as well), and it's a little too big for fine work.

So in short, a good solid knife, and a decent all-purpose introductory ceramic knife.
