Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
A dependable all-purpose colander with a classic design in stainless steel. Features double loop handles, a raised base and fern-patterned perforations. Pretty enough to double as a countertop fruit bowl. Dishwasher safe.

Amazon.com Review
Because of their constant contact with water and other liquids, colanders made of stainless steel are exceedingly useful and long-lasting. Beyond the superior metal, this model also has a superior look. With rows of leaf-shaped holes, this colander will add to the beauty of what's happening in the kitchen. Leaf-shaped holes also prevent small, round foods from slipping through the colander. This colander measures 10-3/4 inches in diameter with 1-inch-high base, and is dishwasher-safe. --Rhonda Langdon

5 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!   February 4, 2008

I've had this colander for 9 years now and just LOVE it! It has ample holes which to drain anything from pasta to veggies with great ease. I love the footed base which makes it very easy to just stand it on the partition between my two sinks and drain anything so I don't have to put my food into a germy sink at all. No signs of rust whatsoever, it looks fabulous, like I spent $50 on it, and it's just been one of the best items in my kitchen. I originally bought this for a co-worker for a wedding gift and liked the looks of it so much I bought one for myself. Sure am glad - it's used almost daily in our house. Highly, highly recommend!

3 out of 5 stars Just not as big as you would think..   October 19, 2006

I recently bought a 6 quart mixing bowl from Amco, and I was expecting the same quality -and frankly- space as the bowl. I was wrong.. I can fit my colander inside of the mixing bowl, so I don't understand how it's possibly 6 quarts. Not worth the money to ship it back though.

3 out of 5 stars Not enough holes!   October 27, 2005

This is a nice-looking colander, but not very functional. It could use more holes to drain more effectively, especially on the bottom. I drained some cooked veggies in it yesterday & there was a residual pool of water that wouldn't quite drain out. My trusty, but ugly, circa 1980 green Tupperware colander performs alot better. The more holes the better when it comes to a colander!

4 out of 5 stars Is there any difference?   March 20, 2001

I've seen a lot of colanders and personally, they're all about the same. What makes the Amco Colander better than others is that it uses standard sizes and they're known for their high quality steel. This is one of those where you can substitute for a cheaper product but if you got the money, go for it. =)
