1 out of 5 stars Hole in the mesh   August 3, 2008

This item had a small hole in the middle of the mesh which pretty much defeats the purpose of a strainer. Also, note that the mesh is not that fine. The description leads you to believe this is fine mesh and it is not. I returned this product effortlessly to Amazon and they refunded my money quickly.

This is a wonderful little strainer -- just right for washing cherry or grape tomatoes for a salad -- and a great value!

5 out of 5 stars Great little strainer!   July 28, 2007

The mesh is fine but also strong, it doesn't "dent" easily. I love it for straining gravy stock before thickening (who likes lumps of fat in roast beef gravy??!!). It's also great for small pastas such as pastina, which can fall through most colanders. One word of wisdom -- clean it with a kitchen brush as soon as you're done with it, before the mesh gets clogged and harder to clean.

Very handy!

5 out of 5 stars No rim to "catch" food   July 8, 2007

The one great feature I love about this one is there is no groove between the mesh and rim for small beans/legumes to get lodged into. I gave away one of my stainless steel strainers because of the time spent unclogging the groove.

I use this strainer all the time. It is well made and dishwasher safe. It was also priced well. It has clips on the side of it that allow you to sit it securely on top of a bowl. It will hold 2 lbs of hamburger meat easily. I recommend it.
