5 out of 5 stars Nestle together for easy storage...   February 7, 2008

Why do you need more than one? Well as a man I do not usually do the cooking, but on those days when home alone and forced to, I tend to go a couple days between using the dishwasher.

Well, these nestle together so that you could place six together and store in one small space inside a kitchen drawer. O.K. you don't need six but how about three or four, they're cheap enough!

And as others here have said: your hands stay cool when straining hot boiling water.

We have skillets and sauce pans with built in straining holes: they are very slow to drain and do not get out all the water, these strainers do not suffer these problems :)

Highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars pasta strainer   February 6, 2008

If you cook a lot of pasta & are tired of cleaning your big beautiful colander, then this strainer is for you. This well crafted, heavy gauge stainless steel strainer works great. It has a lip around the edge so you won't loose even the tinniest noodle when pouring off the hot water.
Of course, this strainer fits many different diameter pots & pans which will make it very convenient to use. Also, the handles are large enough to give you control of the pot as you pour off the water.
Finally, I believe the price is very reasonable considering how well it's made & it should give you many years of service. Enjoy:-)

1 out of 5 stars Make sure it's the correct item...   September 21, 2007

The product I have received has NO brand name (instead of MIU) and it is Made in China (instead of Italy, as advertised). It looks somewhat like the photo, only because it is intended for the same use. Otherwise, it looks different enough to leave no room for speculation that the manufacturer might have taken the die to a new plant in China. It ISN'T the listed product. More like a dollar-store item.

It's going back.

However, if the incorrect item is listed at the correct price point ($1- $1.50), then it'd be a five-star buy based on quality and usability. Somehow, I don't see that happening...

5 out of 5 stars Better than a colander!   July 8, 2007

I had a strainer similar to this one but the handle broke. I gave this one a try and love it even more. No more washing or storing a big colander and no more trying to drain with the lid on as food slips out. For clarity, the flat surface, edge to edge, is 10 1/8" so the strainer can be used on any pot or pan smaller than 10". You'll find you use this more than you think!

5 out of 5 stars Nice item   June 1, 2006

Really handy for its purpose, draining out of a pan. The description is confusing (are you getting the 9.5" or 13"?). The one that they sent me fits maxes out on my 10" Calphalon pans, however it does fit them quite nicely. You can also use it on smaller diameter pans. I have not had any trouble straining hot water, say from noodles, and avoiding burning my hands. Solid construction. I have gotten several items from MIU and been pleased with them all. All in all I think you will be glad you bought this.
