Amazon.com Review Garlic oil is both sticky and stinky. This clever tool keeps the oil off a cook's fingers while it slices or shreds garlic cloves quickly and uniformly. The 8-1/2-inch-long slicer/shredder is made of stainless steel, except for the guard and plastic feet (which allow you to rest the tool on a counter). Slide the guard on one side for slicing, or flip the cutter over and slide the guard on the other side for shredding. Then place a garlic clove in the guard, insert the plunger, and press with a finger while sliding the guard up and down. Garlic slices or shreds fall cleanly onto the counter or into a pan. Afterward, disassemble the slicer/shredder and place it in the dishwasher. --Fred Brack

The slicer doesn't glide easily, so I had to add oil to lube it, which ended up being a little messy. There are probably better products out there.
