I bough this one to replace my old one. LONG/SHORT..My old one works better. Debating returning it, but probably not worth the effort.
Pedrini Black & Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer - Great Slicer, but clean it well April 5, 2008 Mark (East Coast) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
Pedrini Black & Satin Stainless Steel Cheese Slicer I've been searching for one of these cheese slicers for a friend for about half a year. This slicer is a great value and offers a nice design. There are few things to keep in mind though. The handle is made out of a very solid black plastic, but some people just may not like that. For me it's no problem, but there is an OXO slicer that has a silver section down the middle that is a little more attractive OXO SteeL Cheese Plane. Also, the slicer from Anolon is made from what appears to be a solid piece of stainless steel with a rubber grip around the handle for a firmer more solid feel Anolon Cheese Slicer. Still, both of those slicers are $10 and this one is $7, making it a nicer value. The actual head on this guy is somewhat wide and designed to take a standard cheddar block. Still, I like to cut at an angle to get slivers of cheese instead. The blade comes attached to the paper housing with a thick glue band at the cutting blade. This glue is VERY hard to remove. I suppose solvents might help, but I didn't want to use anything like that. So I soaked this guy in soapy water for a while and used a scrub sponge several times to remove the residue. It took 4 passes before I removed enough of that stuff to feel comfortable enough to use this on food. I will agree that for some strange reason these are very hard to find in stores. For some reason, they mostly sell those wire cheese slicers which just don't seem sturdy enough for thick cheese and are also harder to clean. This is a great slicer and at a great price. Just clean it well and you'll have no problems. Enjoy!
Easiest Cheese-Slicing Tool on the Market! November 25, 2007 Benjamin T. Stultz (Corona, CA USA) Easiest cheese-slicing tool I've found! It slices perfect square blocks with little effort. Bought as a Christmas gift for mom!

The easiest way to slice cheese for crackers. My husband used one at a friend's house and wanted one. Very hard to find in stores. I ordered 2 and now he is very happy. Love the way it slices thin and just enough to put on a cracker.
Very good! March 8, 2007 Deyanira Maldonado (San Diego, CA) It works great. My only problem with it is that it comes with an adhesive protective band and it takes forever to be able to take the glue off the slicer.
