Product Description This heavy weight cutting board, made from thick flat grain bamboo, measures 24-in. L x 18-in. W x 2.5-in. H, and weighs a hardy 27 pounds. Great for home or restaurant use, this board is ideal for cutting large sides of meat, poultry or fish. The weight of the board keeps it from sliding around while you chop, and the thickness prevents the board from warping over time. The board is beautiful enough to store on the countertop when not in use. To keep it in pristine condition, occasionally restore with mineral oil to preserve the integrity of the bamboo, and wash only with warm soapy water and dry immediately -- do not put in the dishwasher. Bamboo is an excellent alternative to wood: equally beautiful and sturdy, it is without the high cost of harvesting, and unlike wood, bamboo is very quick to grow and harvest. This makes bamboo a much more ecologically friendly and superior choice over wood, which can take years or decades to mature. Bamboo is a also natural resource used for a variety of purposes, such as nourishment, medicine, construction and soil preservation. Moso, the type of bamboo most used to make kitchen accessories, is not used as a food source for Pandas, and has no damaging environmental effects to its harvest.

Chop, chop February 10, 2008 Jon K. Peck (Chicago) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this mainly because it seemed such a magnificent hunk of wood, but I was pleasantly surprised at how much better it works for chopping than my previous board. Its solid mass really improves the effectiveness of the knife. Two small downsides: it shows knife marks more than I expected, and it doesn't quite lie perfectly flat on the counter. A few small rubber feet on the bottom would help.
large and sturdy but a design flaw January 15, 2008 John Doe (NY, NY) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This was a large and heavy chopping board that I had always wanted. But after 3 months of light usage, I've found a crack running through the side near the center area of the board. The board is made of strips of bamboo woods laid down and glued in an uniform alignment instead of staggering them(think of brick layering).
Looking for a conversation piece July 25, 2007 Rodrigo Souza (Boston, MA) 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
This board really makes a statement.... It's big and imponent... can't tell you if is durable as it looks, but so far it's great. Even though is made in china ( like everything else...)
