Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Sliding under a delicate piece of fish or a crepe you need a spatula that has gently curved edges and a wide head, with just the right amount of bend vs. resistance. You also want a slotted spatula capable of effortlessly lifting weightier foods like a salmon steak. Thanks to its remarkable heat-resistance you can leave it resting against the skillet without melting it. Durable, good looking, and designed with both function and comfort in mind, this tool coordinates with your red KitchenAid appliances.

Amazon.com Review
This flexible spatula bends with your food, not against it, so you won't end up mangling the delicate omelet you're trying to flip. The 4-by-5-inch head has rounded corners and tapered edges to slide easily underneath the biggest pancake or the heaviest burger, and the slotted surface leaves cooking grease and sauce behind in the pan. Because it's constructed from highly heat-resistant silicone, this turner won't melt if you leave it propped up against a skillet, and it won't scratch or otherwise harm your beloved nonstick pans. The KitchenAid logo even doubles as a spatula rest, so you can place the turner up against the rim of a pan without it sliding in. With its cheery chrome accents and convenient hanging loop, this turner will brighten your kitchen even as it stays within arm's reach. --Mary Park

2 out of 5 stars Too big, too thick, too bulky   March 4, 2008

This turner LOOKS impressive, but that's all I can find favorable about it. It's too thick to slide under food, too rough to let food on it slide off, and too bulky to store in the crock with the rest of the turner utensils. Meal after meal, I grab the old, ugly, scorched turners instead of this. When this is the last clean turner in the kitchen, I handwash a dirty one. I'd throw it away...but it was a present.

3 out of 5 stars Not the greatest...   October 3, 2006

...but it's okay. I like it because it is soft silicone so when I drop it it does not damage. It is a little too flexible, but it's weighted much better than the other spatula (the non-slotted one). All in all it's a pretty sturdy, workable item. Great for pancakes.

4 out of 5 stars High quality but too flexy   April 18, 2004

I bought this to turn hot food in large pans, and it works very well for that. Since it's made of silicone it won't melt unless you accidentally toss it in the oven or something.

Like the other reviewers, I also found the neck to be a little bit too flexible for my tastes, though. When I use it for incidental things (like stir-frying) I never quite know when it's going to spring and bend.

I do like that it's a nice, large turner (bigger than I expected from the picture, and thicker than my other turners). It's defintitely not going to work for small things, like turning omlettes in a little omlette pan, but other than that it's great.

Oh, and one other thing: if you notice an unpleasant odor when you get it, just give it a few washes to get rid of it. Most products made of silicone have this problem out of the box.

3 out of 5 stars Cumbersome   August 29, 2003

While remodeling my kitchen, I decided I HAD to have cobalt utensils to match my small Kitchenaid appliances. With the exception of this slotted turner, I'm glad I got them. Unfortunately, this turner is too large for easy flipping in my pans, and due to the handle being too flexible, I don't feel like I have good control when using it. The business end of the turner is rather thick, and so doen't "slip under" the food as readily as my other turners. Love the Kitchenaid's other silicone utensils, but have to rate this turner just 3 stars.

This turner was much too "soft" for my taste; the neck is bendable to the point that it makes it difficult to use. I have several other Kitchenaid products which I really like, but this one is going to be replaced soon.
