Amazon.com Review Fully forged from a single piece of German high-carbon stainless steel, this 5-1/2-inch knife has a serrated edge and a pronged tip for slicing soft fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and then picking up the slices with the tip. It's also just the right length for neatly slicing bagels, with the serrations' points penetrating the crust so slicing can proceed neatly and safely. A bolster provides balance and safety, and additional balance and strength come from the full tang running through the handle, which is formed of hygienic, fiberglass-reinforced poly that won't crack, split, or chip and is attached to the tang with the traditional three rivets. The high-carbon stainless-steel blade takes and holds a fine edge and it won't rust, stain, or discolor. A quality knife like this should be hand washed. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

The perfect knife. November 4, 2008 L. C. Jett (USA) The calphalon Collector's Edition is wonderful. It's great for fruits, veggies, etc with seeds. Wouldn't give it up for anything else.
wonderful knife January 3, 2007 Shay G. (Northeast, USA) This knife is wonderful! I bought 2 more after the 1st one. I've had one for over a year and it's still razor sharp. I use it for everything, slicing vegetables, sandwiches, fruit, etc., etc. Very sharp, worth every penny.
Does the job, tip very useful, canning season will tell. March 11, 2006 chef's mom (Ithaca, NY USA) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
This knife will probably last forever, but the sharpness was a disappointment and I felt the serrations were too widely spaced. When coring, cutting, seeding, skinning bushels of tomatoes, the knife is important. However, it is strong enough for cutting bagels. I like the tip for coring tomatoes and apples, de-seeding and peeling the tomatoes, and for de-ribbing peppers.
Very Nice January 10, 2006 Peg 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Definitely a nice knife. I really like the unibody and the blade is very sharp. Clean cutting knife.

Great little knife--cuts everything as advertised. Nice balance, right size, very sharp, etc. Sharpest knife I have ever owned, especially the point. Stay away from the point, it will leap up and bite you. Note that sharp knife cuts heal quickly.
