Amazon.com Review Fully forged from a single piece of German high-carbon stainless steel, this 4-1/2-inch knife with its narrow blade and pointed tip is ideal for cleaning, peeling, and cutting fruits and vegetables. The blade is tapered from spine to edge and from heel to tip, with a bolster providing balance and safety. Additional balance and strength come from the full tang running through the handle, which is formed of hygienic, fiberglass-reinforced poly that won't crack, split, or chip and is attached to the tang with the traditional three rivets. The high-carbon stainless-steel blade takes and holds a fine edge and it won't rust, stain, or discolor. A quality knife like this should be hand washed. It carries a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Best Knife I Ever Owned May 2, 2008 J. Aaron (New Jersey) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the best knife I have ever owned. I don't know how I managed before in the kitchen. This would make a great gift. Do yourself a gigantic favor and buy one!!
Calphalon makes the BEST knives, rivaling much more expensive brands. March 9, 2008 Robert Bolin (Hebron, KY United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this along with the 6" Sankuro (they were a set) as my first true quality knives and they are incredible. I may not be a pro, but I've tried other higher priced knives (Henkel) that weren't any better and similar priced knives that were of a much lower quality. I just love them.
Unusually Large but Versatile March 21, 2006 J. Finkel (Hoboken, NJ) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I thought this knife sounded big for a paring knife and boy was I right. This is really great for slicing/boning/paring. Of course, if you have the money and the inclination, go for actual slicing and boning knives and get a 3-3.5" paring knife. I basically use this and a 8" chef's knife for everything. The steel is high quality forged german carbon stainless steel. Of course, like all knives, clean and dry this knife directly after use. It won't let you down. As a paring knife, i'd give it 4 stars, but i've found its versatility worth that fifth star.
