Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review Delicious cookies are holiday favorites, and this simple, handsome cookie jar is just the way to store them. It's also suitable for a holiday-themed display when empty. White with rich red and green holly and ivy, the jar's side includes the lyrics to an ancient English carol: The holly and the ivy, when they are both full grown, of all the trees that are in the woods the holly bears the crown. Standing 9-inches tall and sporting a diameter of 7-inches, the jar holds plenty of your favorite holiday cookies--ginger snaps, gingerbread men, or basler lekeli--while the snug-fitting lid keeps them fresh for days. Portmeirion's Holly and Ivy pattern was designed by second-generation Portmeirion designer Anwyl Cooper-Willis in 1996 as a contemporary arrangement of antique illustrations with a flowing script of a lyric from the 17th Century English carol it's named after. The design and script are hand-painted on high-quality earthenware, and the dish is safe in the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher--making preparation, serving, and clean-up a breeze. It can also be placed in the oven and heated gradually up to 340 degrees F. Match with any Holly and Ivy piece, or coordinate with the Botanic Garden collection. --Jeff Dalto
