Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Review Refresh the palette between courses or simply savor a soothing mid-afternoon sorbet in this delightful, sovereign shaped dish. White with rich red and green holly and ivy, the platter's center is ringed with the lyrics to an ancient English carol: The holly and the ivy, when they are both full grown, of all the trees that are in the woods the holly bears the crown. The thick-walled dish has a 5-1/2-inch diameter and a solid foot for sturdiness. Portmeirion's Holly and Ivy pattern was designed by second-generation Portmeirion designer Anwyl Cooper-Willis in 1996 as a contemporary arrangement of antique illustrations with a flowing script of a lyric from the 17th Century English carol it's named after. The design and script are hand-painted on high-quality earthenware, and the dish is safe in the freezer, microwave, and dishwasher--making preparation, serving, and clean-up a breeze. It can also be placed in the oven and heated gradually up to 340 degrees F. Match with any Holly and Ivy piece, or coordinate with the Botanic Garden collection. --Jeff Dalto
