Consisting exclusively of cups and saucers for hot coffee and espresso drinks, the all-white collection proves that fine china is not just for traditionalists. The wide handle on this café au lait cup swoops out of the rim, turns at an angle, and curves down to join the tapered base in a dramatic flourish. Both the cup and handle are crafted from one piece of vitrified china. Available separately is the saucer, a wavy rectangular plate that holds the cup nicely in a round well, leaving a curvy shelf for one or two chocolate biscotti. Similar in shape to the other cups in the New Wave Caffe collection, the 13-1/2-ounce Café au Lait cup is broader and shorter than the coffee mug and larger than the cappuccino and espresso cups. I first saw the New Wave dining ware at a restaurant and I immediately fell in love with the wave design.
This café au lait mug is such a generous size I would say you can also let it double as a soup mug. Serve the mug on the matching plate with some crusty French bread on the side, YUM. Tip: the plates from the regular mugs also fit the Café au Lait mugs and the Machiatto glasses.
I bought several of these Café au Lait mugs using Amazons the Free Super Saver shipping and that combined with the price they where sold at, was a good deal.
