A dog of a dish brush, IMHO October 11, 2008 James Chadwick (Ashland, Oregon) This brush is sold locally at the only high-end cookware shop in town, and I bought it originally because I thought they would sell quality stuff. The bristles began falling out of the first one within a week or so, as I recall. The second one lasted a bit longer, but the head cracked and a couple of the bristle bundles fell out (jeapordizing the disposal, I think, because they are small enough to jam under the little things that whirl around in there and do the grinding, and, they are quite tough). I have gone through a couple more of them and had varying experiences. The bristles on the one I'm using now have curled badly and don't do a proper job of scrubbing. If I could find a better bet in a dish brush locally I'd just buy it; but a good dish brush seems to be a thing that is hard to find. Kellog made one years ago, but they stopped selling it, and since then it's been a constant quest for me. Another beef I have with this Lodge brush is that the loop at the end irritates my palm when I use it, and so I've taken off the loop and made a different arrangement for hanging it.
For Gentle Use Only! September 23, 2008 Donna K. Mcclish (Alexandria, VA USA) One would think that a company that stakes its reputation on what is considered the best cast iron cookware on the planet would make the same effort with its Cast Iron Scrubber Brush. After vigorus use, I have one that has lost one of its bristle tufts. Pass on the option to buy this one!
Perfect! September 22, 2008 A. Spears (Chillicothe, MO USA) The scrubber brush has come in very handy and has worked perfect for cleaning our cast iron skillet. It's also easy to clean because it is dishwasher safe!
why bother? September 4, 2008 Katharine Kongelbak (Seattle, WA USA) Just use a medium or firm bristle potato (palm) brush. Cleans Iron Pans (and woks) quickly because your energy is directly put onto the surface of the pan. Big plus... A potato brush cleans in seconds under the faucet-- no special care -- or you can put it in the dishwasher if its really dirty!Clipper Mill Potato Brush / Cleaner
what a shame August 18, 2008 Austin V. Hearell (miami, fl) I love Lodge products. I have 6 pieces in my collection. This piece misses the mark. Yes it is the perfect design to clean cast iron but quality is not a term you can reserve for this piece. I read several reveiws before buying and felt that the users were probably more the problem than the product. Well sorry to say that is the wrong conclusion. It fell apart on the first use. The head pulled out of the handle. Once it dried I put it back together with some epoxy that doesn't work either the wood swells so much the epoxy won't maintain a bond. The bristles are too soft and after less than a dozen uses they look like a worn out toothbrush and they stained to boot. Now the head is beginning to crack. Lodge could fix this brush easily. The price would go up some but at least the product would last long enough to get your moneys worth. A little resin impregnated wood to fix the unstable nature of the wood they are currently are using and a better bristle and this brush could last several years rather than the several months this one did. The ergonomics are great just the quality stinks especially when I have found an all plastic version very similiar to it for half the price that lasts a good 6 months. Oh by the way for those who think that it is the user at fault here. I have only exposed the brush to the water that it takes to clean the pan I'm cleaning and after using I wash out the bristles with a little dishwashing soap and hang up to air dry.
