Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Review
While chopping carrots, slicing cucumbers, dicing green pepper, and mincing garlic for a fresh garden salad, this chef knife from Chicago Cutlery tackles the task. Chicago Cutlery has 75 years of experience, crafting top-notch knives since 1930. This 7-1/2-inch chef knife exemplifies this tradition. From the Metropolitan design, the chef knife proves indispensable in cutting ingredients for virtually any recipe.

Craftsmen stamped the chef knife from high-carbon stainless steel for increased hygiene and permanence. The construction resists rusting, staining, and pitting while maintaining sharpness. The blade undergoes Chicago Cutlery's special Taper Grind edge process to ensure the sharpest edge possible upon initial use, as well as through years of maintenance. For greater balance and strength, the chef knife benefits from both a full tang and a sturdy forged bolster. A comfortable polymer handle is secured to the blade with three stainless-steel rivets. To preserve the knife's effectiveness, the blade should be sharpened regularly. Wash the knife by hand and dry immediately. To protect user hands from harm, store the chef knife in a knife block or affix to a magnetic strip. The Metropolitan chef knife also comes with a case for safe stowing. Chicago Cutlery offers a lifetime guarantee for all knives in the event of faulty materials or workmanship. Upon shipping, this item weighs one pound. --Jessica Reuling

4 out of 5 stars Decent knife for the money   October 26, 2008
Eamon (WI)
Bought this knife a few months ago and have used it for just about everything. I bought it based on the price, brand name, style, size, and build quality.

It's a rather light knife, which some people may like, but I prefer a little more heft in a knife. Initially it was very sharp, but a few months later it needs to be resharpened. Cuts nicely when sharp, but with many knives, the vegetables stick to the knife and don't come off cleanly. Overall I would recommend this knife if you're on a budget and aren't terribly picky, but I would encourage looking around as well.
