Some shortcomings persist January 7, 2009 Bella Safro As before, the flour needs to be scraped from the corners of the loaf pan because the paddle would not incorporate all the flour into the dough ball. I did not notice any significant change in the crust from the previous version of Breadman (Ultimate), even though the product description asserts that the convection effect is designed to produce crustier loafs. Overall, I am satisfied with this machine since I have learned through multiple trials and errors which recipe works best for me. I should note that I have used the original Breadman machine until the heating element stopped working, and then Breadman Ultimate, also until the heating element stopped baking. My family likes the homemade bread, and I have been using the bread machines 2-3 times a week.
Loving my Breadman! January 6, 2009 L. Simon (Plattsburgh, NY) I received this bread machine for Christmas and after reading through most of the reviews on here, I was nervous. How could one machine produce so many conflicting opinions?? In the week that I've had the Breadman Ultimate Plus, I've made 3 wonderful loaves of bread. I used the gluten-free cycle twice and I programmed my own setting once. The first thing I did was to run the machine empty on the suggested "rapid white" cycle with the lid open (as suggested by other reviewers) to work out the manufacturing oils. It was a little loud but I attribute that to being empty with the lid being open. So far, so good... For my first loaf, I tried the gluten-free county white bread recipe listed in the user manual. I followed the directions exactly (liquids first, then the dry ingredients, and yeast on top), popped the pan into the machine, set it to the gluten free setting and off it went. The entire time the machine was on it seems to work perfectly. It did not make any excessive noise or "hop around on the counter" as some reviewers reported. The gluten free setting only allows for a 1 1/2 lb loaf with medium crust. It cannot be altered, though there is an option to create 5 of your own personal settings. I used other recipes for the other 2 loaves and they came out great as well. I'm not sure why so many people have had problems with this machine. I can only guess maybe the pan isn't snapping into place properly, causing it to get tossed around during the knead cycles. This is a great machine at a very reasonable price. Hopefully I will be able to say the same after I've made many more loaves of bread.
Awesome Machine Produces Awesome Bread! January 6, 2009 Kaleb, Haley & Ava's Gram (Upper Peninsula of Michigan) I bought this breadmaker for my daughter as her Christmas gift from her dad and I. It replaced one that made smaller, vertical loaves. She had adapted my Mom's homemade (to die for) rye bread old fashioned recipe to a bread machine recipe, so the entire family has enjoyed this gift. The Breadman TR2500BC produces the same, great tasting loaves she used to make, but there are so many more cycle choices on this machine, the bread that comes out of this one has a much nicer, softer texture on the inside. She loves it, since Christmas, she has averaged a loaf a day, including her awesome rye bread and some adventurous banana bread. I looked at a lot of machines and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this particular machine. While some people are not happy with theirs, there are many who feel the same as my daughter does, it is an AWESOME machine. To me, it is well worth the reasonable price and I would recommend it highly (per my daughter's comments). This was, I believe, the first Christmas I didn't ask her what she wanted as a gift (every time she made bread throughout the year, she mentioned that she would replace her machine with a horizontal machine someday) and I absolutely, completely made the correct decision. Couldn't have been better if she had picked it out herself.
Perfect Crust January 4, 2009 S. Whitworth (Texas) This is my third bread machine and I love it. It makes wonderful bread with perfect crust. I am delighted by it. No negative experience so far.
took it back December 29, 2008 Kathy L. Jones (Buckley, WA) After trying 1 loaf, we took this back to the store. Maybe this particular machine was defective, but it was not level, and wiggled around on the counter so much I was afraid to leave it alone. It was very noisy and sounded like it was going to fall apart. I had a Panasonic bread machine for the last 16 years and it finally gave out, so I think I will replace it with another Panasonic. That machine was solid and well built.
