Product Description The Assam is the most sold tea maker in the Bodum tea maker collection. This could be due to the fact that this practical and easy to use tea maker infuses the most delicious aromas of your preferred tea, whether an herbal mint, as you might enjoy in Marrakech, or a "two leaves and a bud" first flush Darjeeling. The ABS plastic handle is fixed to the heat resistant glass with high-tech glue to provide a secure and easy grip when pouring your hot aromatic tea. The unique Bodum tea press strainer, made of polycarbonate plastic, can be cleaned in the dishwasher together with the teapot making it the ultimate everyday tea maker.

Great for loose tea! December 30, 2008 S. D. Fischer (Washington, DC USA) I have been using this teapot for nearly a year and I love it. The strainer works very well to trap the loose tea leaves, and the plunger seal is still strong so it effectively stops brewing when the tea reaches the desired strength. The glass tea pot and the plastic tea leaf holder are both dishwasher safe (in the top rack) and come out of the dishwasher sparkling. I was a little worried that the glass seemed thin but I haven't broken or cracked it yet. I would buy this for a fellow tea lover with no hesitation. It would make a great gift (particularly if packaged with some loose tea).
Great tea press! December 27, 2008 Perilous Moo (United States) I received this pot as a gift from a friend of mine about a year and a half ago and after almost daily use over that time, I have no complaints whatsoever about this pot. It brews an excellent cup of tea and in whatever strength you desire - just keep an eye on the colour and press when done. I usually pump the press a few times while steeping to encourage water circulation. This is NOT a good pot for preparing tea that is as finely cut as the tea you see in bagged tea; I tend to drink only loose leaf teas and I buy all my teas from Stash Tea Company. Most of the time I indulge in their fantastic Earl Green or Dragonwell teas, but I will also occasionally make their black peach tea, which is phenomenal. Despite the strainer being made of plastic, none of the teas - two of which are very distinctly flavoured - have "flavour-stained" the basket. My peach doesnt taste like bergamot from the Earl Green; my Earl Green doesnt taste like peaches. The high-grade Dragonwell does not lose its delicate flavour or have extra flavour added to it from the other two. I make all my tea in the same pot. The basket does stain - I would expect this - but in my experience does not retain even strong flavours as long as you keep it clean and wash it between uses. It would have been very nice to have a high-quality mesh basket instead, but the plastic does very well. I would recommend this pot to any tea aficionado, and will definitely buy it again once this pot wears out or breaks. It's a great little teapot! I drink large mugs and get roughly three servings from this pot.
Good intro teapot for looseleaf tea November 28, 2008 CAreviewer My husband likes tea and he uses this whenever we don't have coffee. You have to boil water in another pot for use in this teapot since it is a French Press teapot.
Poor value October 22, 2008 BeeCharmer (Bloomington, IN USA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I have owned this tea press for a considerable time; I had put it back for a while. I just now began using it again, and I now remember why I had shelved it. It is impossible to pour tea from this pot without spilling it. This is very annoying - annoying to the point that I am finally going to put it out of my misery. Oh, also, I am not pleased with the plastic strainer that has holes way too big. I wish I had my money back.....
Boudum-Assam 4-cup Tea Press October 19, 2008 RetroReader (Great Lakes) This tea pot works well for us. We can have better tea for less money by buying loose tea. No bags, no teaball, just fill the press. Brewing is fast, and you vary the time by instructions on the tea or matte. Leave the press in as lid after brewing - the tea leaves are isolated by the press. Clean up is easy. We use the Bodum double wall tumblers to serve the tea so it stays hot longer. We consider tea better for our health than coffee. We plan to keep warmer this winter by burning less fuel and drinking more tea!
