Product Description
With the OXO Good Grips Cherry Pitter, baking cherry pies, canning cherries and making homemade preserves are no longer the pits. The Cherry Pitter features a removable splatter shield that directs juices downward and prevents them from soiling your work area. When not in use, the splatter shield fits inside the front chamber and a lock holds the Cherry Pitter closed for convenient storage. Sturdy, die-cast zinc construction removes pits with ease, and soft, comfortable non-slip handles absorb pressure while you squeeze. The cherry holder is extra large to accommodate Bing and Rainier cherries and has a recessed cup to securely hold smaller varieties when pitting. Also try the Cherry Pitter to prepare fresh cherries for small children. The Cherry Pitter should be placed in the dishwasher in its unlocked position.

5 out of 5 stars Total time-saver   November 23, 2008
Kimberly STRAVERS (zanzibar)
Many a time I have tricked myself into recipes that call for fresh cherries, or pitted olives. And many a time I have found myself cursing and frantic, hand-pitting a messy pile of fruit as I realize I have just set dinner back a friggin' hour.

No more. This thing is bomber. Highly recommended.

5 out of 5 stars Great as an Olive Pitter!   October 29, 2008
J. Le (Houston, TX USA)
I love kalamata olives, and I think they're best when you buy them un-pitted. But I didn't like putting them in salads because I would either have to butcher them with a knife or catch them in the salad and spit out the seeds.

This Pitter made everything so much easier. I use this product just about every other day to add olives to my salads. It's comfortable and works extremely well- about 8 out of 10 olives pit perfectly, the others you have to gently pull out of the hole, and the seed catches and falls down. While the splash guard is pretty nice, I just pit them directly into my plastic trash/grocery bag.

While I haven't used this on cherries yet, I think this is an indispensable tool for anyone who needs to deal with un-pitted olives.

5 out of 5 stars Very Handy with Soft Grip   October 12, 2008
Lize Deane (Shelbyville, KY USA)
This is a very handy tool to have. Soft grip easy to handle. It gets the job done without being messy.

5 out of 5 stars Cheap. Easy to use. Saves a ton of time.   October 9, 2008
Peter Thatcher (Phoenix, AZ USA)
I love cherries. When they're in season and cheap enough, I buy a ton of them. But I like to put them in smoothies and yogurt, which makes it necessary to remove the pit. I was doing with just a knife, which worked well enough but took a long time. Then, I read about this little gadget and bought it.

It works. It doesn't make the work instantaneous, but saves at least half of the time. And it's a lot more fun shooting the pit out with this guy than cutting the cherry in half.

It's cheap. If you eat a lot of cherries, it will save you time.

3 out of 5 stars OXO cherry pitter ok   September 28, 2008
Roberta A. Wilmoth (Bitburg, Germany)
I purchased this particular product because it was endorsed by a cooking magazine. It is fairly easy to use and cleans easily, but I didn't expect it to leave such a large hole in what you were pitting. The other thing I don't care for is the "splash guard" frequently comes off during the pitting process. I will continue to use this product because it's better than nothing.
