5 out of 5 stars Great for using my laptop in the car   August 30, 2008

This works really well with my laptop in the car. Glad I bought it.

works as advertised, I keep it plugged in all the time when I do that sometimes the connected devices get re-started when i turn on the ignition it happens with my music player. Otherwise no issues

4 out of 5 stars Does the job   August 24, 2008

As others have commented, this device feels solid and does the job. I appreciate having one AC outlet and a USB charger port, allowing you to charge 2 devices at once. It does get hot, but it doesn't seem unsafe at all. I use it on airplanes, especially long international trips.

5 out of 5 stars Not exactly what is shown on the Xantrex Website   August 2, 2008
Speedy Electron (Silicon Valley, USA)
Got this unit because I was tired of paying $15 to $30 for a cell phone Car Charger every time my wife or I got a new cell phone(why can't these guys standardize?? Ohh...I think I know see, $30 per car charger).
This way we could use the always supplied AC cell phone charger.

The Xantrex site shows this model is now with a set of battery clips and also and ON/OFF switch. This was actually more useful to me and really liked the idea of a power switch.

Well it arrived and but had the above described airline power port and no Power Switch. Oh well, not what I was hoping for and I assume there are alot of older units in the Amazon Warehouse still but at somepoint they may change and not sure they willupdate the description since the P/N is the same.

Too bad Xantrex couldn't change the P/N for this since the design and options has changed.

But it works well, does get a tad warm so I would be worried if it got buried under a bunch of stuff(paper), but it has an overtemp shutdown so I have to trust them and also play it safe too.

Well worth the cost paid as it's less than one Cell Phone Car Charger!

5 out of 5 stars Xantrex 100 watt Inverter   May 23, 2008
W. K. Koken (Seattle, WA USA)
I bought this specifically to use in my truck and or travel trailer to recharge a small laptop computer, camera batteries, handheld CB radio and later a small handheld vacuum. Handled everything, plus very light and compact to store. Also made a short attempt to run an older tube model color tv of 75 watts, but that didn't seem to work. TV probably needed more capacity for startup.
