Great gift! August 15, 2007 Ms. Walrus (USA) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is an awesome trinket, and generally more reliable than the weather station! It does actually work, and very well. It predicts weather about a day or two ahead of time. The crystals are beautiful. It comes with a sheet that includes its history and how to read it. (It rarely snows here, which is a shame because the crystals are supposed to be "falling down" when it does, which I bet is lovely.) I gave it four stars because...BE CAREFUL! The stormglass is fragile: do not expose it to extremely high heat, sunlight, and so on. Don't let it get knocked over. We never attached it to the wall and out cats knocked it over several times. (Not off the desk, just over.) Now it doesn't seem to work correctly; the last time it happened, the crystals flew everywhere and it's only now looking like it's correcting itself. Hopefully if I nail it to the wall to keep it from getting knocked anymore, it'll be ok. Anyway! Worth the price for anyone who loves weather, ships, or the sea. Not good for spoiling kids with. Better if you live in a cool climate.
