Amazing June 28, 2008 Pat (New Jersey) I bought this can opener with no reviews, just going by my previous positive experience with Chantal products. I have used it for about six months now and I am totally in love with it as is my family. The handles are perfectly calibrated. It cuts effortlessly like butter. It is beautiful to look at, feel, and use. I am so glad I didn't go with a cheap one. You truly get what you pay for.
Probably Worth the High Price March 4, 2008 Mr. Ralph J. Secoy (Seabrook Island, SC) Thank you to everyone who writes reviews on Amazon; they are so helpful! We've always used manual can openers and have wanted to put them in the dishwasher after each use. This meant that we would have to keep buying a new one every couple years, because they would rust and become impossible to turn. I found there are now several dishwasher-safe choices--stainless-steel, chrome, etc. I bought this Chantal stainless-steel, and when my wife opened the box she emphatically exclaimed, "You paid $30 for a can opener?" Of course, the proper translation of that is, "Are you completely insane?" However, the first time she used it I heard a loud, "Oh, this is so nice; it's like going through butter." Not long after that when she was cooking and I was trying to help, she started going for the can opener, and I said, "I can get that". But she stopped me and said she wanted to do it because using this can opener was like driving a Mercedes. And what's even better is that it's so well made that it will probably last many years--much cheaper than to keep buying $10 can openers every couple years.
