A Great Blender! December 29, 2008 D. Huang (South Pasadena, CA) Well, I've had this blender for 4 years already. I originally purchased it from Amazon based on the reviews from the others that I read and I have been extremely happy with it. This is definitely a lot to pay for a blender, but if you think about the cost of replacement blenders, it's probably cheaper in the long run. I've been burned too many times in the past by buying cheaper appliances only to have them fall apart after a few months, thus forcing me to buy a new one. Besides, a good blender is something that encourages you to use it because it makes a good mixed drink/smoothie. If it doesnt make you want to use it, it's probably not the one for you. It only has two settings: high and low, but in reality that's all I need. If you want it smoother, you can just put it in longer. I always put all sorts of frozen fruit and ice into it and this thing just powers through it. The motor is extremely strong. Pros: The stainless steel is extremely durable and unbreakable. I kept chipping my old glass ones on the sink when it would fall over. Also makes extremely smooth drinks. I received a lot of compliments from others who were impressed by how smooth the frozen drinks come out. Cons: The cost is extremely high relative to other blenders, but you get what you pay for. Also, this blender is extremely loud. Luckily that only lasts for a few seconds as it blenderizes the frozen parts. Then it's just as loud as a vacuum cleaner. One other thing is that it only makes about 2 glasses. You can't exactly make a ton of drinks for a lot of people at one time. But if you're only looking to make one or two glasses at a time, this is perfect. I did have a problem with the bottom of the stainless steel container getting loose after 3 years. I just tightened it by hand and it was as good as new. I suspect it was all of the use from the blade spinning just eventually loosened it, but that only took me a few minutes to tighten it. Also, cleaning it can be sort of a pain since the steel container is pretty narrow especially at the bottom and difficult to clean with the blades down there. So I just put in some water and add some soap then turn it on for a few seconds and let it blend for a few seconds. That usually cleans it up right away. All in all, this is a great blender and I'd recommend this to anybody who can afford to buy an expensive blender that will last a long time and make great smooth frozen drinks/smoothies.
A Classic - Great Gift! - But Consider Basic Black (Ebony) - This Machine Will Outlive Color Fads! December 2, 2008 Doug - Haydn Fan (California) Please click on 'See Buying Options' directly under the listed price to see the Available Blenders! For many years now I have wondered if my Waring Blender would ever fail. After two washing machines, a couple refrigerators, and endless smaller appliances have broken down and been fixed or replaced, it continues to work with the unflappability of a perfect butler. This is a timeless design, and at a time where people are rightly cautious about their expenditures, this offers about as Blue Chip an investment as you can find. Two years ago I bought one of these as a gift for friends who had another company's blender break down after only a year and a half of minor use. They LOVE their Waring! In fact, they tell me they use it far more often than they did their previous blender, because it does such a fine job. So, if you're looking for a Holiday gift that will keep on giving for many, many years, and you know someone without one of these icons, consider this as an excellent choice among your gifting options. One of my all time favorite kitchen appliances! The picture on the review is not the option I would suggest - you can order differing models at slightly different prices. You can find them by clicking the Buying Option and checking out the four or fice ones still around. Consider black with the clear glass, or as a fall back, red with the clear glass, if you can get it. There is also sometimes an all stainless one available, very sophisticated looking. Any of these look very cool and retro and will ride out any temporary fashion madness - such as pistachio! Waring makes even more powerful models, if you do a lot of partying you might consider one of them. However, for most people this model should be most satisfactory.
The "crusher"... September 10, 2008 C. Walter (NJ) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
without question, BEST blender I've ever used. Crushes ice in mere seconds with NO chunks or ice pieces - period! I make a smoothie drink every morning using powder Isagenix mix, water, fresh fruit and 6 large ice cubes. Creates unbelieve thick smooth shake with absoulety no ice chips. Expensive, yes, but you get what you pay for. Makes incredible frozen Margharita's too! - Purchase this bar blender, you will not be dissapointed.

Works great but it is TOO LOUD. Wish I had done more research before purchasing. For the price, I expected it to be quieter. Friends have bought blenders from other places. (i.e. Williams & Sonoma) and tell me theirs is not noisy.
Best Blender Ever!! August 28, 2008 Kelly Lawson (Seattle, WA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is hands down the best blender I have ever used! It has no trouble with quickly blending everything I put in it. It's easy to clean, it's sooo nice looking and I love the cloverleaf container design! No latching the jar onto the base, simply set the container on the base and little feet against the clover leaf shape hold it in place. I'm so happy every morning when I go to make my vita-smoothie! Buy it! You'll love it!
