pretty but loud January 2, 2009 Hollis Blanchard (Austin, TX USA) Pros: - pretty - largish carafe - good customer service Cons: - *very* loud -- it literally hurts my ears to stand in front of it - blade assembly broke - takes a long time to thoroughly crush ice (~1 minute for a cup of ice) As reported by others, our blade assembly also ground itself away, leaving metal dust all over. On the plus side, customer support mailed us a new piece, free of charge. This blender is prettier than our cheap old white one, but functionally I'd have to call it a downgrade. One other tip: don't use the little spout to pour; that is really messy. Instead just pour out of the corner of the square carafe.
Heavy duty blender! December 29, 2008 Cheryl Yes, it is a heavy blender compared to others. But it has a huge motor! I am not a big woman and I have no problem lifting it to where I use it. So far, nothing I have put in it has made it break, smoke, smell, or anything that others have said in their reviews. The jar capacity is great. I agree that the jar does not pour as well as it should, but you get used to it and it does not make a mess. I like the digital timer, and the simple functions. The jar and blade clean up perfectly in the dishwasher.
Good for about a year December 14, 2008 K. Dooling (CO) I'm on my second blender because I thought the motor on the first one burned out after only a year. It turned out that what burned out was the blade assembly. It does have a powerful motor but it's loud, I mean really loud (beware apartment dwellers) and be prepared to buy a blade assembly at least once a year. That being said, I do use this every day to make my smoothies so it does get a lot of use but I expect the parts to last more than a year!
Works for us!! December 10, 2008 Reading 101 (Tennessee USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My husband and I have used this blender for almost five years and it does a great job for us. It is heavy, base and glass, but I feel this is a good thing because it doesn't slide around on the counter. We use it for making margaritas, nutritious shakes & smoothies, etc. It is excellent for crushing ice. The opening in the top of the lid makes it easy to add ice cubes (fruit, etc.) during the process. The blender performs great. The best thing I like about it ... it comes completely apart and can be cleaned in the dishwasher. Beware, if you have ceramic tile flooring in your kitchen (as I do) and you drop any parts, it breaks (plastic or not). I dropped the little plastic cup that fits on the top of the lid and it chipped and cracked. No problem, I went to the Cuisinart website and ordered another one (not expensive). I also bought an extra gasket for the blade. If I could change anything about it, I would make a bigger lip on the pouring jar. It does leak a bit when pouring into glasses, but I've found that flaw in every blender I've owned (quite a few). To prevent any other leaks, make sure the bottom plastic piece is securely fastened with the gasket and blade in place. We love it and wouldn't trade it for another one. Our motto: If it's not broken, don't fix it. Good luck!
Leaks everywhere! November 11, 2008 C. Mckenzie I have used this blender less than 10 times, and it broke and now leaks out of the bottom of the pitcher. Total waste of money.
