Amazon.com Review Offering three storage options, this cleverly designed appliance is not only convenient, it turns the chore of opening cans into a hands-free operation that's as fun as it is effective. The opener is cordless so it goes anywhere, eliminating the need to carry a can to a countertop or mounted electric opener. Simply clamp the opener onto any size can and let go of the soft-grip top. The opener then walks around the can on its own, shutting off automatically when the can is open. A swing-out magnet lifts the lid free. The opener is lightweight and recharges in a compact, 6-3/4-by-5-1/2-inch plastic charging base that can be mounted on a wall (mounting hardware included), set on the counter, or placed in a drawer. For easy cleaning, the removable, stainless-steel blade is dishwasher-safe. --Fred Brack
Product Description Simply bring the can opener to the can, clamp it on and let go of the soft-grip top. All by itself this "walks" around the can, opening as it goes. When the can is open, auto shut off kicks in, then the swing out magnet lifts the lid free.

Love My Gizmo! December 2, 2008 T. Smith (Phoenix, AZ USA) I love my Gizmo. I have not had any problems setting it on any can and getting it to work. it is a little heavy for small cans but I am fully capable of holding them while it does it thing. The blade pops off for easy cleaning - sometimes a little to easy, but I would rather it just come off then have to fight with it to get it clean. I have never had a problem with charging it. I have had it for about 2 years now and it stays charged for about a month at a time with moderate use. If I notice it getting low I plug it in for a day and it's good for another month or so. I don't know anything about the under the counter mount as I don't care to have it attached like that. I prefer it out of sight. I leave it on the counter to charge it over night. The only problems I have had with it is I can't find another one in local stores. I have wanted to get one for my mother and have only found the one touch brand and it looks cheaply made... I will be ordering her one now that I have found them!
BD Gizmo GC200 Can Opener September 30, 2008 Helen Cosner (Ontario, Ca USA) The Gizmo GC200 can opener works well. We replaced an Eco cordless can opener with this one. Overall, we are happy with the way it operates. It should be mounted on a wall for it to look its best. We did not mount it because the procedure looked too involved and we did not trust it to stay on the wall considering how you have to unsnap it to take the Gizmo out to open a can. We thought after time the plaster holding it would loosen, so we keep it on the counter. It definately looks odd that way, but its usable. Using it on very small cans can be a little ackward to manage. My husband is a left hander and it is definately not left hander friendly.
gizmos don't last long September 26, 2008 Carole Erickson I was very fortunate to be able to return my first Gizmo because the battery would not hold a charge. THe store very nicely gave me another and after a few months it too will not hold a charge. Went back to the store but without the box (they kept the first one to return it in) they told me I was out of luck. I think I will return to using the old fashioned hand held holder as long as I can.
Gizmo EM100 Electric Can Opener August 28, 2008 Not as good as I thought I just purchased the Gizmo EM100. After reading the instructions, I realized I bought the lesser model as this model does not come with the base. I was originally disappointed with the fact it does not have a charging base, but after reading the reviews stating the base does not serve as the actual charger, I'm okay with the stand alone unit. What really bothers me is that the box states the opener has a " quick lid release" inplying that you do not have to touch the lid. The unit does not have a quick lid release as advertised. In fact, the magnetic lid holder looks completely different from the pictures on the box. The company that imports this item uses the Black and Decker name under a license. I have multiple B&D products which I am very happy with but am extremely dissapointed with this item. I will be returning it without even bothering to try it.
BAD BATTERY BLUES July 22, 2008 Allan R. Berger The battaries die after two months. My wife wants her hand crank back. Not a good deal.
