Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Equipped with a quiet, powerful motor, this two-speed immersion hand blender quickly purees soups, blends batters, mixes beverages, and more. Its sharp stainless-steel blade won't rust or absorb odors, and the unit's protective blade guard prevents splattering. Other useful features include a lightweight design, an easy-to-grip ergonomic handle, and fingertip speed control. For quick cleanup, unplug the unit and hold the blade portion of the blender under hot running water to rinse clean. The compact immersion blender measures approximately 14 by 3-1/2 inches and hangs for convenient storing.

5 out of 5 stars Guacamole Galore   February 17, 2008

I love this little kitchen helper. It will puree your lentil stews, makes great guacamole. I had used ones priced three times higher and yet this is my favorite for a fraction of the cost.
I highly recommend it.

4 out of 5 stars Toastmaster 1740 Immersion 2-speed hand blender   May 13, 2007

This is a good value. I use the blender to make my morning protein shake. It's simple to use and easy to clean. Would make a good gift, too.

2 out of 5 stars Lasted 6 months with occasional light use, then fell apart and electrocuted me   January 25, 2007

Good points:

1. It's really, really cheap.

2. This blender worked well while it worked and was easy to clean.

Bad points:

1. You have to hold down the speed button for as long as you want to run the blender. This gave me cramps in my hand.

2. Loud

3. Has a moderate tendency to splash (I've had better, I've had worse).

4. Fell apart after 6 months; the switch broke and the handle began to split. Due to the breakage I suffered a light electric shock from touching the sauce that the appliance was immersed in.

My conclusion? Spend twice as much for a good hand blender, which will last longer and save you money in the long run.

5 out of 5 stars It is a workhorse   January 11, 2007

This hand blender is a real workhorse and believe me I put it through its paces as I use the pair that I bought to make soap and lotion which is very thick and heavy liquid that has to be blended for sometimes up to fifteen minutes.

3 out of 5 stars about the lead warning....   February 16, 2006

(ignore my stars)

i just bought an Oster wand blender yesterday and it had the same warning. i got worried and researched it a little. it seems to be a new CA law that things must be labeled if they contain lead. the lead stabilizes the PVC in the cord and protects you from being shocked. the lead has ALWAYS been there, but any product sold in CA must now warn you. google it up and you will see.
