Product Description WMF Large Stainless Teaball with Screen. Made with the highest standards in quality and materials, wmf has over 150 years experience in creating functional and elegant design for everyday kitchen products. the tea ball is a classic form for tea infusers: using loose leaves instead of tea bags gives you a more balanced, mellow, and complex flavor. available in small and large, the tea ball contains the loose tea leaves for brewing in a tea pot or right in your cup. the mesh infuser is attached to a chain with a small hook on the end which fastens to the rim. made of high-quality cromargan, 18/10 stainless steel, this material will not affect the flavor of your tea and is easy to clean.

Can't keep it closed :- ( November 23, 2008 i_need_a_mission (Low deserts of Arizona) I really wanted this product to work. I love the simplicity of the design and I was planning on giving two of these as gifts. Sadly, as other reviewers have stated, the locking mechanism does not work properly. The two halves practically fall apart. The bumps/grooves are not pronounced enough to keep them attached. WMF really should try to correct this issue, because if the unit stayed shut, I'd easily give it 5 stars.
Best Tea Infuser for making loose Leaf Pitchers of Tea September 5, 2008 J. Bellas (Las Cruces, NM United States) The casing on this ball is very sturdy and the stainless mesh is held solid in a stainless circular frame. The hook is not my favorite design, but outside of that, the infuser is wonderful. I have four of these that I use to make 2 pitchers of Tea. I use 2 infusers for each pitcher. I do not pack the tea tight inside of the ball, so that may be the reason that some people complain about the locking mechanism. I have never had the tea ball come open while I was making tea. I suppose if you pack too much tea inside the ball, it could conceivably come open. When the tea ball needs to be cleaned, it is easy to empty and remove all of the tea. I have tried several methods of making tea, as I purchase large quantities from the "Dragonwater Tea Company" on the internet. My favorite is the Green Rooibos tea that has more than 50 times the anti-oxidants of traditional green tea. I have owned the four tea balls for almost 2 years and I was looking to get a couple more so I can give as a gift in case these items are ever discontinued.
Teaball January 12, 2008 Madeleine S. Young (Chattanooga, TN USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This teaball is made to last forever! The recipent is very happy with it's performance. Too bad it didn't arrive in time for Christmas (it was supposed to be a stocking stuffer).
Great, if you know what you're getting January 11, 2008 Sagar S. Mungekar (New York, NY) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
First, make sure you read the specifications before you buy this product. It clearly says "large". The actual item is 2-1/2" in diameter, and 1-1/8" tall when closed. It has a 6" chain and hook. Measure your mug or whatever vessel you intend to use to make sure it will fit. With that said, this teaball does an adquate job of steeping tea leaves in a large mug or pot. I can easily load enough tea leaves for a quart or more and just steep this one tea ball instead of several bags. The ball opens and closes with an engage-and-twist mechanism. I've never had a problem with opening or closing it, or having it leak. Since it opens completely, dumping out the used leaves is a breeze. It is easily washed by hand or in the dishwasher. Given its relatively large thickness, it's not the greatest at diffusion. If you pack it too tightly, it takes a long time for all of the goodness to diffuse out. With its design, it's nearly impossible to fill it more than halfway, and I usually limit myself to filling the smaller part at the maximum. This allows the leaves to move about within the ball. In addition, since the screens are at the top and bottom, it's more efficient if it's set on its side rather than flat. The chain is long enough for a mug, but since it's really a pot teaball, a longer one would have been nice. The teaball also functions well for spices in soups and the like where you want flavor but don't want to pick out whole cloves and bay leaves from the finish product at the end. The screen and finish seem to be stainless as I have not seen any rusting or staining. In short, if you're making one cup of tea, get a smaller one. If you tend to make a pot at once then get this one.
What a waste December 23, 2007 amynicole902 (Northern Virginia) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This looked like such a great little Christmas gift to give to my husband who is gaining interest in loose teas. Fortunately for me, I was curious to see how it looked because "teaball" tells me "round object," and the picture looked like it's of half the teaball... Anyway, I tried to open the teaball, and it wouldn't even move!!!! I'm glad I didn't give a defective gift. You may want to consider a different product.
