    Amazon.com Review
This is one programmable coffeemaker that's actually very easy to program. The touch-pad buttons are intuitive, and the printed directions clear, so there's no excuse for not waking up to the aroma of a freshly brewed pot of java. To prepare for making a pot at any hour, the lid lifts up (hinges in rear), exposing the brew basket: add a flat-bottomed paper filter and the ground coffee of your choice. There's ample pour space for water, the level of which you can view through a convenient window on either side. Simply close the lid and push the On button. Auto/On and the clock buttons set the time for delayed start.

The most satisfying thing about the glass carafe is that the wide lip pours without a single drip. In addition, the broad bottom on the carafe affords good surface contact with the stay-hot plate for up to two hours; at that point, the machine shuts off automatically for safety. Those who can't wait for a sip before the entire pot is brewed will appreciate the Sneak-a-Cup feature. While the coffeemaker stands 13 inches tall, it must be pulled forward on a counter to clear most cabinets since the raised lid requires 22 inches. The DCM2500B features a sleek hourglass shape, comes in black or white, and is covered by a one-year warranty. The brew basket and carafe are dishwasher-safe in the top rack. --Ann Bieri

1 out of 5 stars Timer/Auto Shutoff Do Not Work   December 4, 2008
    Sandra K. Kalnins
I have spent so much time returning and following up on this thing, I am disgusted with myself. I am very surprised at how poor the customer service has been.

3 out of 5 stars Not bad for a budget   December 4, 2008
    KingWings
For someone on a budget this simple coffee maker will get the job done. It has a programmable timer so you can set it to have your pot of coffee brewed when you get up, though i'd recommend setting it to brew AFTER your alarm has gone off.

The only real downside to this machine is that it beeps. At first it's nice to have that loud beeping to tell you the coffee is done or the machine is about to turn off. After a little while that beep begins to grate on you every time it goes off though. Of course you could give it as a gift or put it in the work place and laugh as all your coworkers cringe whenever it sounds.

    5 out of 5 stars B&D Coffee Maker   December 2, 2008
    J. Mattingly (Thunderbolt, GA, USA)
I ordered the B&D coffee maker after my old Mr. C. gave up the ghost. First, I read Consumer Reports. Then I ordered their top rated coffee maker. No regrets! This is a great coffee maker.

It has a very comfortable grip on the carafe and pours beautifully, with no drips. Maybe I'm just dreaming, but the coffee actually seems to taste better than with my old maker.

Bottom line -- it's an outstanding product at a great price.

    2 out of 5 stars Disappointed   November 30, 2008
    F. Amelia (Florida, USA)
    Black& Decker DCM2500 SmartBrew 12-Cup Coffeemaker

After much research, I purchased this Consumer Reports highly rated Best Buy 6 weeks ago. While it makes a great cup of coffee, the carafe leaks. It seems to be coming from the area where the plastic handle/spout component joins the glass. I have attempted to resolve this with Black and Decker, only to find out that they have sold this product line to Applica. Attempts to contact Applica reroute me back to the Black and Decker web page where I started. I give up.

3 out of 5 stars Coffee Maker Has A Few Issues.   November 26, 2008
    Addicted2Games (Missouri)
I had ordered this product and had to send first one back cause water resivour was cracked and leaked. Second one I recieved works but has some issues.

Good: Makes a good cup of coffee, very well designed coffee pot, pause and serve feature works like a charm (no drips whatsoever), nice looking coffee maker.

Bad: Digital clock display has been messed up from day one, acts af if parts of display are burned out at times and other times shows correctly, when you raise lid to add water the condesation runs off it and always ends up on counter, the way the lid raises takes up enough room that when you are adding water/replacing filter/adding coffee grounds for most people you won't have enough room and have to pull it out to end off counter to be able to open lid enough or it will hit cabinets above.

Other than the bad stuff it still works good but i've only had it maybe a month so far, have never tried the timer on it though so don't know how well it works.

As for amazons returns, they do a great job! I went through process on there site for a return told them what the deal was, printed out a return label, shipped item back and had new coffee maker within same week.
