Amazon.com Review KitchenAid's Artisan stand mixer is a substantial piece of equipment: 325 watts of mixing power make child's play of creaming butter, kneading dough, and whipping cream. The kid in you will appreciate how quick and easy it is to mix up a batch of cookie dough. This model comes with three attachments: a flat beater for making batter, meat loaf, and all textures in-between; a wire whip for egg whites, mayonnaise, and more air-infused creations; and a hook for mixing and kneading yeast doughs. All three are solidly constructed and easily secured to the beater shaft with a simple twist. This model also includes a pouring shield for guiding ingredients to their proper destination, and the bowl itself locks tight to the base. Standing about 15 inches high, jutting out a foot, and weighing more than a grown woman's bowling ball, this stand mixer isn't the sort of appliance you'll wipe down and put away. Better to find a square foot of free counter space for easy access; besides, this machine is as pretty as it is rugged--you'll want to show it off. --Betsy Danheim

Stand Mixer, how I love you... December 4, 2008 R. Bullock (Phila, PA) Let me start off by saying, I have lusted after this appliance for years. My Christmas Spirit was almost doused by the fleeting thought of keeping the Classic version that I bought for my mother on Black Friday years ago. No - I gave it to her and continued to covet. For years, I relentlessly mixed cookie dough by hand, taking the occasional break when my arms got tired. I carefully kneaded bread doughs with flour-covered fists. I loaded heavy cream into my food processor to make whipped creams for desserts. Life was hard, lonely, and definitely missing something. I'd drop hints while resting after a good long cookie baking session. I would wipe my brow and comment forlornly, "My life would be better if I had an Empire Red Kitchen Aid stand mixer." People accused me of being dramatic, but I knew that I was right. Then on my birthday last February, my life was complete. I received a Kitchen Aid Artisan stand mixer, in Empire Red. The heavens sang out, and the stand mixer-shaped hole in my heart was filled in and spackled over. I began to bake. Cookies, rugelach, bread, whipped cream. I went even further, using the flat beater to evenly combine ingredients into my meatloaf mixture. I went insane with power, whisking ricotta, eggs, salt, and garlic to be used in a delightfully dense lasagna. And after each session, I'd loving wipe my 5-quart beauty to a shine, and slide her lovingly against the wall on my counter, where she continues to regally hold court over all of the other appliances. Kudos, Kitchen Aid. This stand mixer is glorious.
i LOVE this mixer!!! December 3, 2008 Soon to be a Mrs. (Pittsburgh PA) I originally ordered this from Amazon and ended up getting an item that was NOT a kitchen aid mixer. Amazon customer service was great and took it back no charge or hassle. So I found it at my local store and purchased it since I had to bake my butt off that week. BEST investment EVER! this mixer is awesome. from cookies, to bread dough, to whipped cream it does it all. the attachments are awesome and it's so easy to use. i honestly don't know how I cooked without it! I watched how they make these mixers, and I now understand why they are so expensive - they are assembled by hand from start to finish. these babies don't go onto a massive assembly line and get put together my machines. nope, all hand assembled and checked for any issues. If you like to cook, this is a must have, no, requirement for your kitchen!
All star review for Kitchenaide Mixer December 2, 2008 Michael E. Jennings (Murphysboro, Il) My wife loves her new Kitchenaide Mixer. She has wanted one for a long time. When we saw the price we couldn't resist. She has already used it many times and just loves it. She looks forward to using it for many years to come.
Excellent product! December 1, 2008 K. Calvert (Alabama) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I can't add much to what's already been written, but I bought mine in Onyx Black. It looks great sitting in my kitchen. I really loved the Empire Red, but I thought the Onyx would look less of a fad and go with whatever colors I decorated with in the future. I've owned a bowl-lift Pro model, but it was too tall to sit under the cabinets when not in use, and really, it had unnecessary power for just a home kitchen, in my opinion. Also, if you have the option, get your paddle attachment in the white enamel instead of the stainless steel, it discolors if you put it through the washer. The white enameled one will hold up for years and look nice.
a machine that all family must have December 1, 2008 Yanhua Yu (fl usa) I enjoy cooking so much, and I must say that this machine is a must. This machine makes my life much more easier in the kitchen, and it makes my food tastes a lot better.
