4 out of 5 stars Don't Understand the Problem   June 29, 2008
Aunt Holly (Las Vegas, NV United States)
I finally purchased this item, inspite of the negative reviews, because my good old toaster finally gave out. The paint is not chipping. It's sits squarely on the counter and it's a sturdy solid machine. It toasts and broils chicken just fine. I haven't tried baking with it yet. One warning I would add is in agreement with the person who mentioned how easily the rack slips out. Yes, it does! So what I do is take an oven mit in my left hand and hold on to the tray while sliding it out. I've also taken to using a pair of bamboo tongs to flip and remove food items. Works just fine and you won't get burned or try to grab that tray with bare hands if it starts to slip. So this is an oven, it gets hot, it ain't no two slice toaster. Give it plenty of room on your counter top and you two will get along fine.

5 out of 5 stars Still the best!!   June 7, 2008

I love my KitchenAid toaster oven. Before I purchased, I read all the reviews. It wasn't rated very highly by many. I believe the reason for this is that it works more like an oven than a toaster. It does require a few minutes of preheating for perfect results.

Have you ever had old fashioned oven toast? It's different from toast from a toaster. Much better. This is the toast produced with this oven. I've had it for a couple of months, and I get perfect toast every time.

This goes also for everything else I've cooked or heated in this oven.

I read in one review that it had only 1 rack position. Take my word: It has 4.

I read in another that the exterior was faulty. Mine is perfect.

I read in another that the oven didn't go off automatically. It does.

I read in another that the rack slid out too fast and fell on the opened door. OOPS!!

I thought this was "operator error", and laughed the first time it happened. Just be aware, and use a hot pad to slide the rack out. If you use a fork, it WILL slide out and land on the opened door!! I think the teflon interior contributes to this issue.

I took a chance because it's KitchenAid. I'm glad I did!! Another quality product!!

This is the classiest little toaster oven I've every had! The exterior is really stainless steel on the front, and the body is beautifully finished in red.

I'll deal with the sliding rack!

5 out of 5 stars Fantastic   May 27, 2008

This is the best toaster oven that I have ever bought. It is easy to use and clean and sharp looking. From baking roasts to making toast there is no mistakes, no over cooking or burning. I would recommend this toaster oven to anyone who is looking to buy a new one or replace the one they have.

1 out of 5 stars Chintzy, poorly engineered   May 9, 2008

I wish I had read the reviews on this before purchase. I have purchased nearly every appliance in the kitchen from Kitchen Aid (including the oven and stove). This was foolish to go by the product based on brand name with little research. It is somewhat obvious to me that this product went through zero testing before they went production with it.

I concur with the other reviews with the issues, primarily it does not toast correctly; it 'dries' bread rather than toasts it. The tray within the unit is a major safety issue, if you pull it out any more than say 55% it falls out, and that includes whatever load you may have on it.

I didn't purchase this product from [...] but it sucks so bad I actually decided to log in and write this review. I'm not stretching the truth by saying that the standard $[...] black and decker will get you through many years with much less aggravation.

5 out of 5 stars Red KitchenAid Toaster Oven   May 2, 2008

I had looked everywhere for a red toaster oven, and did not have very many to pick from. After reading several reviews on each one, I decided to buy the KitchenAid. I am very pleased with my decision. It is slightly larger than the previous toaster oven, but it really love it. It is great. Easy to use, and I like the large handle to open the door.
