When the weather is too cold to stand outside over the gas grill, fire up the Perfecto indoor grill instead. This electric grill has an embedded heating element and a special M-shaped grill design so the entire surface area heats up and grilling results are more consistent. Its adjustable, detachable thermostat has five temperature levels and can be adjusted low for grilling corn or other vegetables and higher for steaks or shrimp. The grill surface itself is nonstick, so less oil is required for cooking and swordfish steaks flip nicely without sticking. A nonstick splatter shield surrounds the edge of the grill to prevent walls and countertops from getting greasy and a drip tray below the grill's surface catches any juices. Both the cooking surface and tray remove easily for painless cleanup. For the most tender and juicy meats, the tempered glass lid fits over the grill to retain moisture while still allowing the chef to check on meat's progress. For safety, the Perfecto has cool-touch handles to prevent fingers from burns and an indicator light to show when the grill is heating up. The glass lid is dishwasher-safe but the grill surface and drip pan must be washed by hand. Delonghi covers the Perfecto under a one-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde

Product Description
The DeLonghi Alfredo Indoor Grill utilizes an embedded heating element to deliver heat evenly throughout its cooking surface. The die-cast aluminum grill plate has traditional raised ridges for perfect searing of steaks, burgers, frankfurters, and more. The grease drips through slotted openings and is collected in a drip tray below the grilling surface. The grill itself is recessed in the unit to prevent excessive splattering, and a tempered glass lid also acts as a splatter shield, while keeping heat and moisture in the cooking area to prevent foods from drying out. A variable heat control dial provides settings from 1 (keep warm) to 5 (450 degrees). The lowest settings are well suited to slower cooking or more delicate items, such as fish fillets. At the highest setting, you can quickly sear meats and seal in juices. The large 12x16-inch cooking surface accommodates up to six medium burgers or two large steaks in a single batch. Although the lid does not allow adequate room for roasts or whole chickens, thick cuts of beef, spare ribs, and hearty chicken breast pieces are no problem for this unit. A cooking guide in the instruction book gives approximate times for different food items. You can also use the Perfecto Grill to reheat previously cooked food or keep cooked foods at the ideal serving temperature. The base and handles are made from cool-touch plastic for safe handling. Both grill pan and drip tray are coated with a non-stick surface, which means foods won't stick and cleanup is easier. 1500 watts

5 out of 5 stars Perfect for meat, fowl, veggies, and fish!   September 11, 2008
Debra R. Wife and Mom (Petaluma, CA)
You will love this product! Put it on top of your stove and turn on the fan. The meat cooks evenly, the top helps large pcs. of chicken cook faster. The flavor is delicious. You can use it year round...how nice to see snow outside and have BBQ Chicken, or steak cooking inside. It's great for shrimp, peppers, and zucchini, too!

I always bake my chicken in white wine, carrots, celery, salt, pepper, onions, and garlic. When it's nearly cooked I add some of the juice from the baked chicken to homemade BBQ sauce (beer, no salt ketchup, pressed garlic, celery seeds, touch of Burgundy, chives, honey, maple syrup, and some savory herbs.) Soak the nearly cooked chicken in the sauce then finish cooking on the grill. The flavor is awesome. Of course you'll have to cook any left over sauce in a pot if you want to use it for dipping because it contains raw chicken juice.

I cut butter soft sirloin into strips, pound them, marinate them in soy sauce, cornstarch, and cilantro and then grill them quickly. They also taste great fried on a large pan spayed with Pam. I've never put large chunks of raw meat on the grill.

No matter how messy the grill gets it will come clean if you soak it in sudsy water before washing. You can put the grill pan and the lid in the dishwasher. Have fun!!!

3 out of 5 stars Not hot enough   March 18, 2008

I have only used this product once to cook Turkey Sausage. Even on the highest temperature the grill did not seem to get hot enough and when I turned it down per the instructions it took forever to cook. Im not pleased with this product but will try it again keeping the Temp on high.

5 out of 5 stars Delongi smokeless grill   March 18, 2008

I was a little worryied about a product that didn't smoke because my parents had a electric grill and was unhappy with, but to my surprise it works great. It takes a little time to wash if you use Dawn Disolve on it makes alot easier.

5 out of 5 stars Grilling all year round   February 13, 2008

Once our old grill finally bit the dust we went looking for an alternative.

The Delonghi BG24 Perfecto Indoor Grill is great. Follow the directions; HEAT IT UP for 5 or 10 minutes before you use it. As with most indoor grills it's advisable to use the lid to keep the splatter down and keep the heat in. I was concerned about the height of the lid in the pictures and some comments that it doesn't leave much room for the meat, but unless you are cooking something thicker than about 2" you shouldn't have a problem.

As long as you use the drip tray with some water in it you won't have any smoke issues.

Clean up is a chore, but the way this unit comes apart it's about as friendly as it can be.

All in all, a great product, highly recommended.

It works great! I was skeptical because I have not seen any indoor grill that heats up enough, but this one does. If you let it warm up when you first turn it on (a few minutes longer than the instructions say), it will give you very close to the sizzle action you get on an outdoor bbq. The meat cooks very evenly and yes it takes longer than a Bbq, but it will be also less likely to be charred and burned in spots. I cooked steaks (yes they get nice grill marks), chicken drumsticks (although they are not recommended on the instruction book, I let them cook for about 1/2 to 3/4 hour and they were perfect, cooked through and full of good flavor). I also cooked an array of vegetables, from asparagus to endive and bell pepper. It all came out perfect. I clean it by removing the grill and, holding it by the electrical socket (which I don't want to get wet), I get it under the water faucet in my sink and I brush it with a bristle brush. It cleans very nicely. Also, I use Pam on the grill before I use it to help with sticking. As far as the smoke goes, I haven't noticed much of it at all. I use the lid quite a bit to retain the heat, and I also turn on the kitchen fan, but the smoke is no more or less than a normal amount you would get from regular cooking on the stove top. I recommend this one!!
