Product Description
The ASICS GEL-Nimbus VIII running shoe is designed to provide exceptional platform comfort, along with a surprising amount of stability for gaits ranging from underpronators to mild overpronators. Biomorphic Fit™ upper provides enhanced fit and comfort while decreasing the potential for irritation. Solyte™ midsole combines improved cushioning and durability. Heel and forefoot GEL Cushioning Systems offer maximum rearfoot and forefoot shock attenuation in all planes of motion. Advanced Space Trusstic System creates a pocket that allows for greater midsole deformation and more efficient foot function. IGS (Impact Guidance System) uses linked componentry to encourage optimal gait while allowing for natural foot movement. Wt. 10.1 oz.

5 out of 5 stars Good comfort, sharp looks   February 15, 2008

Hi - new to running but these seem incredibly comfortable and supportive thus far. I have a wide foot and high arches so it is nice to find a shoe that doesn't squish my toes. Even my teenage daughter commented on what a cool-looking shoe it is so I guess it must be true:) Amazon great to order from - I've always had fairly quick shipping (even the free arrives usually within a week) - great deal on a good product.

5 out of 5 stars LOVE THEM   January 12, 2008

I borrowed my sister's Asics in college and never gave them back. Recently I bought two pairs off a clearance section- this one and a Kayano for $95 combined. It's going to be hard to give up the second pair to my sister!! I will never go back to Nike or any other brand. These are so unbelievably comfortable for middle distance runs. They're feather-light and feel incredibly secure. I can't complain about the style either- green is my favorite color and this is a sharp shade.

4 out of 5 stars Nimbus 8   January 9, 2008

This is my second pair of Nimbus VIII, they fit very well and are pretty comfortable for long runs. The normal width seems to run kind of narrow to me, so this time I bought a wide width and they fit perfectly. The cushining is perfect for my high arches, but if you are looking for a little bit of stability too, you should try something else because these have little to none. They are a great fit for me, though...so far my long run in them has been 18 miles, and they were comfortable right up to the end of it.

1 out of 5 stars short life span   November 21, 2007

I owned these shoes for less than 6 months when the entire fabric on the inside of the heel wore completely off...down to the plastic frame. I put approximately 20-25 mile per week with half of these miles on an elliptical machine which, puts very little wear on shoes. Asics warranties up to 2 years however they say the shoes are designed to last 300-500 miles. Asic stated, "The heels starting to form holes is the result of normal wear and tear since the shoes have reached their maximum life expectancy." I've had much better wear on less expensive shoes. If you have to replace them every 5 months I strongly recommend you stay away from Asics and go for a less expensive shoe that is just as comfortable and lasts just as long...all of 5 months...you'd be money ahead and have new shoes more frequently!
