Amazon.com Product Description Prized for its durability and unique illumination system, the Luminox Original Navy SEAL Series 1 stainless steel men's watch exudes confidence and power whenever it's worn. Thanks to the vaunted Luminox self-powered illumination system, this watch's hands and dial markers glow 100 times brighter than other luminous watches and will provide continuous illumination for more than 25 years. It's also water resistant to 200 meters (20 ATM, 660 feet), which is suitable for recreational scuba diving. The large, black-plated stainless steel watch case--measuring 1.7 inches wide and 0.4 inches thick--is topped by a ratcheting, unidirectional rotating bezel with engraved 5-minute Arabic numerals in white and coin-edged detailing for an improved grip. The black dial face is accented by white Arabic numeral markers, large white baton hands (with seconds hand), and a date function at 3 o'clock. It's completed by a comfortable polyurethane (PU) diver's strap in black. Other features include a scratch-resistant sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating, multi-jeweled Swiss quartz watch movement, double gasket crown, and 4-year battery life. It's backed by a 1-year Luminox warranty. Luminox Self-Powered Illumination System Each Luminox watch employs tiny self-powered micro gas lights (borosilicate glass capsules), which are firmly embedded in the hands and the hour indicators on the watch face (as well as on the turning ring of diver's watches). Luminox watches need no external light source to "charge" the paint on the dial or hands in order to glow as do conventional luminous watches, nor do they require a push of a button to light the dial as do electro luminescent watches. About Luminox Luminox combines the finest tradition and precision of Swiss watchmaking with the durability demanded by US armed forces and the latest innovations in timepiece technology. The company pioneered the development of small, individual luminescent tracer lamps and was contacted by the U.S. Navy SEAL teams to build a dive watch for their use on night missions. After their popularity in the Navy grew, the Air Force asked Luminox to develop a watch specifically for F-117 Nighthawk Stealth pilots.
Product Description Swiss quartz analog movement, Identical to Navy Seal 3001orig with a new face, Tempered scratch resistant mineral glass crystal, Date window, Water resistance 200m, Nylon web strap with compass, Meets military specifications of all branches of the US Armed Forces (MIL Spec # W-4637 4F), All day luminescent hands never need light to recharge

NOt near the quality you are paying for. June 4, 2008 Gregary K. Orr (Whitefish, Montana United States) Like others I have read here, I found the quality to be substandard for the price. I also found the company service to be horrid and arrogant. The band broke nearly right away and the pins come out of the softer polymer lugs. I like the look but would not and have not purchased another again.
Great Marketing - Mediocre Product May 15, 2008 A. Dufault (Irvine, CA USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The most appealing aspect of this watch is the illumination. It's by far the best 'glow-in-the-dark' analog watch I have seen. Unfortunately, the watch is not as tough as advertised. Within two years, my watch was sent back for water in the crystal and a bezel that popped off. In addition, I find that it scratches quite easily. Do I like the watch? Yes, I'll admit it's pretty cool. However, for $150 I thought it would hold up a bit better. By comparison, my 5-year old Casio G-Shock only needed a wrist band replacement and has proven to be much tougher. However, I would still recommend the Luminox for light outdoor use. Hope this helps.
Exactly what I was looking for April 16, 2008 M. Holley (Gilbert, AZ) I have owned a number of "sports" watches in the past, to include several versions of the G-Shock and Oakley brands. All have had their problems, most notably that they require substantial studying of the manual to learn all the functions. If what you want is a high quality no-frills sports timepiece that can take a beating, the Luminox is it. The tritium markers at the hours glow brightly at night without having to search for a button. And a great look to it as well.
You may want to try this....... April 16, 2008 Bobby D (az, us) I was looking for a tough outdoor analog watch for quite some time, I even considered this model of Luminox. The rotating bezel and polyurethane case always disuaded me. I eventually went to the LL Bean web page and saw that they too sell the luminox brand. LL Bean has a 100% guarantee, no questions asked return policy ( Have not tested the guarantee, but thats what they claim ). I ended up purchacing the Higher grade LL Bean field watch which suspicously appears to be a luminox watch in a standard metal case. Have worn it non stop for three months and I am very happy. You may want to check it out................ Just my two cents.
Lumination works as advertised February 29, 2008 J. Walker First of all, some of the photos show this watch as gray. It is not gray, it is black. The first thing that struck me about the watch, taking it out of the box was the rubber watch band. It is suprisingly soft. It is a very comfortable band. The second thing was how light the entire watch is. I usually wear metal diving watches with metal bracelets. By comparison, this watch almost floats on my wrist. The illumination works as advertised. It is bright and stays bright continually. The gas lights are on all the hands, including the second hand, hour markers, and one on the bezel. The gas light at the 12 position is redish-orange, making it easy to orientate the watch in the dark, a nich touch. The gas light on the bezes at the nominal top is at right angles to the bezel, another nich touch. None of the gas lights need to recharge with an external light source, no need to push a button, they glow all the time. I got this watch for the illumination and it rates a 5. No doubt about it.
