Great mat August 22, 2008 Lauren Comeau (Salem, MA United States) I purchased the brown mat with the blue leaves. It looks great and has an excellent sticky surface. The mat is not as thick as some other mats, but I find those thicker mats to be better for Pilates, not yoga. Thinner mats give you better support during balancing poses. The mat's smell is normal for yoga mats and will go away with time. I doubt you'll find a brand-new yoga mat that doesn't have a smell.
Slippery August 7, 2008 Tessa S. Day (CA) To expensive for such a slippery mat. Downward dog is nearly impossible, making it complicated to focus on breathing or relaxing. Over all Review Con: 1)Extremely Slippery 2)Toxic scent after initial unwrapping of product Pro: 1)Length im 5"8 and this mat is just long enough for me anyone taller should buy a longer mat 2)The perfect amount of stickiness 3)Design is alright,so if your into asthetics then it's a con
Trendy, attractive & useful July 28, 2008 Flaca (Flaca) Good looking yoga mat. It did smell strongly of chemically like fumes but we aired out on the patio & it'd dissipated in 24 hours. I use it for yoga & my very masculine husbands uses it for stretches before his own work out routine. I love the color. Petite - it's easy to roll up & stash under the den's couch!
A little use goes a long way July 25, 2008 Sara (Colorado) Honestly I was surprised reading some of the more negative reviews of this product. I've been doing yoga for about a year now and I love this mat. Pros: The mat is sticky. Even more so after using it, so I don't worry about slipping if I'm stretching out a warrior or triangle pose to a maximum. I've heard some say that the mat gets slicker if you've been sweating on it but a lot of mats do. A beach towel can cure that. The mat is pretty. This isn't really important to your practice, but it does garner compliments and makes the mat easy to pick out in a full class should the teacher ever decide to move the class to a wall for some support on difficult poses. The third pro is that for some reason my dogs and cat don't trust it. Meaning it doesn't get pet hair all over it and if I don't roll it up immediately I don't really need to worry about someone sleeping on it. In fact the mat doesn't really seem to collect dirt or objects from the floor. Cons: The mat is thinner. It's about 1/8th of an inch so if you do need more padding you might want to consider a thicker mat. Or you could always just put a blanket or another mat underneath this one. Plus the thinner size makes it easier to store and transport to class. The mat did smell like rubber when I got it. A friend of mine who got the same mat with a different pattern gave it a bath which he said removed the smell. I just sprayed some body mist on it and by the time that smell wore off the mat smelled normal.
Sweet mat June 23, 2008 H. Cox (New Orleans, LA) So far, after airing it out I have enjoyed owning and using this mat. I don't do hot yoga so I don't know if it gets slippery with sweat or not, but it has served me well so far.
