Amazon.com Review
Banish the chills this winter with the energy-efficient Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator from industry leader, DeLonghi. Solo, the quiet radiator serves as an alternative heat source in small and medium rooms. The 110-volt radiator also complements a central heating system, bringing warmth to high-use areas while the main system runs on low for more cost-effective heating.

The radiator construction features rustproof metal for even heat distribution and resilience with pure diathermic oil completely sealed inside. Heat radiates through several vertical thermal tunnels while keeping the hot elements enclosed and out of the reach of fingers and other body parts and objects. Three power settings allow flexibility for diverse rooms and personal heating needs. For energy efficiency, the heater runs low at 600 watts or medium at 900 watts to slowly spread warmth. On high at 1500 watts, the radiator brings full heat to the room with extra speed. Users direct the room's temperature for comfort with an adjustable thermostat. With a 24-hour programmable timer, the heater offers 96 options in terms of temperature, wattage, duration, and activation time. An antifreeze function engages should the indoor temperature fall below 44 degrees F, while the heater also automatically shuts off upon knock-over or overheating. Four wheels enable easy transportation from one room to another. The power cord wraps around for storage. DeLonghi advises against placing the radiator too close to power outlet, outdoors, or near flammables. Avoid running the power line under carpets. Thorough safety guidelines and assembly instructions are included. The radiator weighs 23 pounds upon shipping. --Jessica Reuling

4 out of 5 stars coool heater---I mean Hot   October 11, 2008

nice way to protect winter house from freeze up. A more accurate thermostat (digital and separate from heater?) would be a better than the none to accurate dial on the heater.

3 out of 5 stars the owner of the home   October 7, 2008

I had to use the Delonghi Safe Heat Oil-Filled Radiator while living inside a dilapidated attic which had a hole in the roof. It was winter so without this I'd be dead. I had to lug it up the stairs, it's about 30 lbs, has wheels, and fills up easily, the owner of the home gave me a refill can. Works okay, minor issues include a "clunking noise" and a horrible after exhaust smell, since I had an open hole in the roof I had adequate ventilation but I did notice some dead pigeons around it. You're best bet is to have some type of vent open that gets cold outside air. Don't smoke around this either and don't drill into it at any cost.

This product emits a strong outgassing smell when in use. Still strong after a few weeks of use.
I wonder about the toxicity of this smell. May give me a headache. Other reviewers have found the same.

4 out of 5 stars DeLonghi oil-filled heater review (TRD0715T)   September 22, 2008

I have had the heater now for the last month. Our bedroom is at the end of the home heating circuit (water filled radiators) and we decided to boost the heat in the bedroom. I love the DeLonghi TRD0715T. It had worked according to expectations thus far with no issues - no weird odors, or sounds. It manages to keep our rather large bedroom (36 ft X 20 ft) nice and toasty. I have it set to come on an hour before we retire for the night and have it turn off an hour before we wake up. The 700 watt setting has worked just fine, although we are just starting into cooler weather. I expect to jump to one of the higher power settings in the coming winter months. The heater's top surface gets warmest but even that is not scalding hot. I can touch it without burning my hand, but can keep it there for only a few seconds.

The main downside of the heater is the extra floor space it takes up. I would have loved to have a wall-mounted heater with the nice properties of the oil-filled radiator. Oh well... (I realize there are wall mounted heaters but the reviews talked about crackling noises etc and I did not want to risk issues).
