Product Description DUAL PURPOSE STAINLESS STEEL MUG,
Amazon.com Review Keep homemade gazpacho chilled or a café au lait steamy in this dual function food and beverage container from Thermos Nissan. The 16-ounce container operates as both a mug and jar and comes equipped with lids for either purpose. A roomy handle offers a comfortable, ergonomic grip, while a wide base provides container stability under unpredictable circumstances such as a bumpy car ride to work. Constructed with durable stainless steel, the container is attractive, unbreakable, and stays cool on the outside. Patented, double-walled vacuum insulation keeps drinks and dishes warm for up to seven hours and cold for nine hours. A wide mouth lid equips the container for sipping, while another prevents food and drink leaks during transportation. A no-slip, scratch-free base further outfits the mug for travel. The container is dishwasher-safe and covered by a five-year warranty. The jar stands 6-1/2 inches high with a 4-inch base diameter, and weighs 1 pound and 4 ounces. --Jessica Reuling

The best mug EVER October 24, 2008 S. Grogan Seriously, this is really the best mug ever. My first one only had to be replaced after it was run over by a car and the base came off. This mug will keep your drinks hot for hours, swop lids and you can drink then swop back and you can throw it on the back seat or where ever you want and it won't spill or leak. I have 2 now for work each day, I make my drinks at 7.30am and some days it is 2pm or later when I get to the second one and it is still hot. These also hold a lot more than your average cup, probably because other mugs don't stay as hot there is no point in making them bigger - who wants 6oz of hot coffee then 10oz of cold. If you are tired of trying coffee mugs and always being dissapointed then get this mug and you won't have to shop again.
Lid leaks all over clothes July 16, 2008 Elena Schott (California) The size on this is ok and it certainly keeps your coffee hot. Unfortuntely the screw top lid is not an actual screw but rather a partial screw, where 1/2 twist closes it and 3/4 twist pops the seal. It constantly leaks to the side of the lid, usually all over my clothes. I'm tossing it and regret the $20.00 lost.
Don't buy this as a coffee mug; Nissan quality is not evident May 21, 2008 Jensen 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is sold as a dual purpose mug; as such it comes with two tops: a sealed top for food storage and a "sipping" top for beverage dispensing. The sealed top fits and works great; threads are closely sized to the ones on the container and it seals very well. The "sipping" top is another matter: the threads fit so loosely on the container that lid threads "cam" off the container threads when tightened, resulting in leakage (coffee all over clothes and auto seat). I returned the first one and got a replacement; the second is slightly better but you need a torque wrench to get it just right. I returned that one also. I am a machinist with some familiarity with mold making for plastic products. My take is that the mold they constructed for the "sipping" lid is incorrect for the plastic they shooting it with. (All plastics shrink during molding and different blends of plastic shrink at different rates; it is as much art as science to match the shrinkage rate to the size needed on the final product). So maybe the quality control on the plastic they are using has slipped or maybe they constructed the mold improperly to begin with (molds cost thousands of dollars and it is not uncommon to get one wrong). And maybe since the product is now manufactured in China (so much for the famous Nissan quality) they just got sloppy. Oh, and my e-mails to Nissan/Thermos received no response.
Hot stuff stays hot! April 9, 2008 Pam Smith (Colorado) This mug is excellent. Keeps coffee hot for a long time. Alternate lid extends time even more. Just be careful you don't burn your mouth! :)
Not great, not bad. April 1, 2008 S. Jackson (Nashville) Keeps colds things reasonably cold for up to 8 hours. Doesn't leak if you screw lid on "tight." Pretty sturdy. Keep in mind this holds only 16 oz. Picture makes thermos look bigger than it is. Haven't used it for food items so can't comment.
