Product Description Covered butter dish holds one stick of butter or margarine. Cover is 6" long x 2 1/2" wide, bottom is 7" long x 3 1/8" wide.
Amazon.com Review The playful curves of this 2-piece covered butter dish from the Pfaltzgraff Empire collection make a handsome complement to its minimalist palette. Designed to coordinate with the rest of the Empire pattern, the 2-piece set has a striking combination of glazes--soft charcoal and matte black--and a charming spherical handle. Both pieces are crafted from durable stoneware for a substantial, chip-resistant construction. Like the rest of the Empire line, the set is safe in the freezer, oven, microwave, and dishwasher. It measures 8-1/2 by 5 by 3-1/2 inches and carries a 3-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

Very Heavy September 29, 2008 Dana Demerchant (Springfield , VT USA) Its OK , but its very heavy . I gave it to a friend who seemed to like it more than I did. I wouldn't buy it again but my friend loves it so I guess its a matter of opinion , what you like and your own taste.
Good quality for price June 11, 2008 J. Frank (IL United States) First of all, another reviewer was upset about the colors of this dish not "matching." If you cannot tell from the photo due to dark screen settings, the dish is supposed to be two-toned, the small handle black, the dome gray, the base black. It's a nice solid dish and as other reviewers mentioned, the little handle on the top is a nice feature when removing or replacing the lid. It matches my stoneware dish set very nicely. I have never had a problem with it being messy.
messy May 26, 2008 talking (San Jose, France) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
It is very easy for the dish to get messy. The lid sits down in the bottom and so if there is any butter it gets on the lid. Better butter dishes don't sit down on the bottom part. It doesn't even look that nice since the bottom and top are slightly different colors. Not recommeded.
Great Dish May 20, 2008 Bradford Thornsberry (Columbia, MO) The dish looks very nice, it has a nice weight to it. I would recommend it if you like the look.

What can I say? It lives up to its hype: it covers 1 stick of butter and fits into my decor.
