Editorial Reviews:
Product Description Atlanta is a bold sophisticated pattern that is perfectly suited to today's demands for both relaxed and formal dining. The narrow marbled border features a Greek key design and is edged in platinum.
Amazon.com Review Royal Doulton, founded in 1815, is one of England's famed producers of fine bone china. Its designers continue to draw on history and mythology for creative fodder; the relatively modern Atlanta pattern, which first appeared in the mid-'90s, reaches back to ancient Greece to evoke the lost paradise of Atlantis. Combining oceanic color and classic Greek ornamentation, the Atlanta pattern manages to be simultaneously antiquated yet contemporary. The Atlanta 10-1/2-inch white oval vegetable dish has steeply sloping sides that flare out slightly to a narrow, 3/4-inch rim. The rim has a thin, triple border: a band of tiny squared spirals (a familiar Greek motif), a wider band of cloudy ocean blues, and an outer rim decoration of gleaming platinum. The overall effect can be comfortably casual or dazzlingly formal, as the occasion demands. Other setting pieces in the Atlanta pattern include dinner, salad, and dessert plates, three sizes of soup bowl, and two sizes of oval serving platters. Because of the platinum trim, Atlanta dishes should not be used in the microwave. Though not designed to handle extreme temperature changes, Royal Doulton china can be pre-warmed for serving in a 100-degree oven. Royal Doulton china is dishwasher safe; it can handle water temperatures of up to 150 degrees F. When hand washing, avoid abrasive cleansers and scourers. When stacking for storage, the best way to avoid scratches is to place a paper napkin between each bowl or plate. The Atlanta oval vegetable dish measures 8-1/2 by 10-1/2 inches and stands 2 inches tall. Royal Doulton guarantees that a chosen pattern will be available for two years after initial purchase. --Garland Withers
