The inspiration for the colorful Carmina pattern is the Mediterranean as the warm blues and greens evoke the colors of the sea while the lemony yellow is reminiscent of the unrelenting sun. The varied tableware in this pattern mixes and matches these colors along with using well-known fruits from the region--olives and lemons--to liven up the centers of some of this dinnerware. A potted lemon tree cluster of lemons on a sponge-painted blue background dons the middle of this 8-inch salad plate while a vibrant green border covers the majority of the rim. A thinner band comprised of varying shades of blue diamonds on a mottled olive green background trims the outside edge and yellow striping hems in the entire border on either side. This salad plate is part of Royal Doulton's casual Studio line, which is built to handle the rigors of everyday use. Constructed of fine china, Carmina is resistant to chipping and is safe for the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. The Royal Doulton Carmina plates are a perfect size. 8 inches is a modest dinner plate or generous breakfast/tea plate. The colors are vibrant, and hold up extremely well after a year worth of being tossed into my dishwasher. The colors compliment foods and the lovely pattern around the edges makes any dish look "fluffed up" and well presented.
I have 3 and will keep collecting these!

When my husband & I combined households, we bought this set as 'our dishes', and love them. They are durable, versatile, and lovely. We get compliments on the style all the time, they've held up beautifully even in the every day use. I would strongly recommend the Royal Doulton line, superior quality and appearance, and this line in particular for it's lasting stylish durability.
