The inspiration for the colorful Carmina pattern is the Mediterranean as the warm blues and greens evoke the colors of the sea while the lemony yellow is reminiscent of the unrelenting sun. The varied tableware in this pattern mixes and matches these colors along with using well-known fruits from the region--olives and lemons--to liven up the centers of some of this dinnerware. Clusters of lemons and olives don the middle of this 9-inch individual pasta bowl while a yellow border covers the majority of the rim. A thinner band comprised of varying shades of blue diamonds on a mottled olive green background trims the inner edge hemmed by a final interior border with the words "pasta salad" written in blue. This pasta bowl is part of Royal Doulton's casual Studio line, which is built to handle the rigors of everyday use. Constructed of fine china, Carmina is resistant to chipping and is safe for the dishwasher, microwave, oven, and freezer. We have used this one item more than any of the other pieces in the three sets of everyday china in our kitchen. It is perfect for artichokes, shrimp dishes, and even corn on the cob. What fun to have such an upscale, versatile piece in my cupboard. We need a dishwasher spaced to allow all of these bowls, as I can't order enough of them. Thank goodness for Amazon, as I cannot find this pattern locally and other patters from Royal Doulton don't match the exact dimensions of this favorite bowl.
