Beware the Color Difference December 12, 2007

I grew up with Corelle plates that were light yet durable, and I bought these plates expecting the same. They have not let me down on that front.
However, the pattern surprised me so much that I almost returned them as soon as they arrived. Two things stood out:
(1) The green, which looked subtle and almost bluish on my monitor is really a lime/spring green that contrasts strongly with the white background. It's grown on me, but it's not what I expected. This is my mistake, of course; don't know why I assumed the color on my laptop screen would be true.
(2) The flowers on the Eloquence pattern are carnations. Now that I know this, I can easily see it in the picture, but it wasn't so obvious while I was browsing, and nobody mentioned it. Somehow carnations don't seem very Eloquent to me. I wouldn't have bought these had I known. Oh well.
In the end, I wish I'd gone with the plain white, but it wasn't worth the hassle of exchanging these. The plates are good quality; I can get used to the design.
