Product Description What doorchestra drummers and bakers have in common? Vic Firth tools of course! Vic Firth was a timpanist with the Boston Symphony Orchestra for nearly fifty years. For the past thirty-five years he has turned his attention to manufacturing the finest drumstick in the world. In keeping with his exacting standards, the same woodturning expertise is now being employed to produce peppermills and salt mills of the highest quality. More recently he has turned his attention to rolling pins. This lightweight pin is the preferred tool for chefs when it comes to rolling out thin pie crusts. It's tapered from the middle out to both ends, allowing easy rotation of the pin around the dough for rolling out perfect circles.
Amazon.com Review Rolling out proper pie crusts that are both tender and flaky is a snap with this pin. Tapered from the middle to both ends, it rolls out dough thinly by pushing it from the middle. And it rotates easily around the dough for making perfect circles--a virtue for pizzas, also. It's unfinished so that, over time, flour penetrates the wood's pores--making the pin less sticky than finished pins. --Fred Brack

not a drumstick for sure July 4, 2008 K. Terry (KY) freaks me out a little that Vic Firth makes drumsticks and rolling pins. Bakers swear by it and, so do I!
Awesome rolling pin May 25, 2008 ougirlee (Oklahoma) Buy it! I bought this in January and can now make fantastic pizza dough and pie crust easily. This is the secret to all things in the kitchen that must be rolled out very thin. Absolutely love it!
A little short for the job May 9, 2008 Joseph M. Williams (san diego, CA USA) It is a little small to work any dough of consequence. It works well if you are working with a very small dough. This might be a pin to have if you are developing quiver of rolling pins. I bought the OXO rolling pin with the handles. I like that much better
Viv Firth French Rolling Pin April 8, 2008 D. Bina (Milwaukee, WI) Nice size, feels sturdy in the hands and rolls out dough easily and quickly! Great produce at the price!
Works Well April 1, 2008 S. Floyd (New York City) works very well and tooks some getting use to since I have always used a standard rolling pin.
