Amazon.com Review The understated patterning of the Wallace Continental Bead flatware has the ageless elegance of a strand of pearls. As a result, it is highly versatile, looking equally poised with a set of simple dinnerware as with fine china. Each piece tapers narrowly at the neck and broadens generously at the rounded end. The beaded edgework is fine and precise and slightly inset for subtle contrast with the smooth central surface. Crafted from 18/10 stainless steel with continental sizing, the line combines generous proportions with a pleasant weightiness in the hand. They have a gleaming finish, are dishwasher-safe, and never need polishing. With 65 pieces total, this set is perfect for frequent entertainers and large families. It includes 12 place settings, each with a 9-3/4 knife, an 8-3/8 dinner fork, a 7-3/8-inch salad fork, a 7-1/2-inch soup spoon, and a 6-1/4-inch teaspoon. The 5-piece hostess set adds a tablespoon, a pierced tablespoon, a cold meat fork, a butter knife, and a sugar spoon. All the pieces carry Wallace's 25-year warranty. --Emily Bedard What's in the Box 12 place settings, 5 serving pieces. Each place setting consists of: dinner fork; salad fork; soup spoon; knife; teaspoon. Service set consists of: butter knife; sugar spoon; serving fork; serving spoon; pierced serving spoon. 65 pieces total.
Product Description The detailed beaded edge gives emphasis to the pleasingly rounded, amply proportioned handle. While this design has a long pedigree, reaching back to the 18th century, its simplicity makes it an easy fit with today's lifestyle. Substantial weight and Continental sizing lend this flatware an added air of authenticity.

Superb Value September 21, 2007 JMS66 (New Jersey) 8 out of 8 found this review helpful
I bought this set because I wanted a classic, beaded design and found this set to be comparable to a Williams Sonoma set (also 18/10) that was priced 3 times higher. I've now had this service for 12 for over 3 years and it still looks great. It complements my fine Wedgwood china as well as my everyday. The Continental sizing is a plus, and the weight and feel of the pieces are excellent. I haven't experienced any of the pitting or rust problems others have, perhaps it has something to do with water quality or detergent?

I love this flatware. I have to agree with others who have bought it, however in one respect: the knife blades tend to pit easily. I simply wash those by hand. It's a nice weight and very goodlooking.

The weight, balance and quality of this set is outstanding and what one would expect from wallace silversmith. If I were looking for a flaw it would be that the dinner fork and soup spoon are oversized.

The spoons and forks are heavy--great quality. The knives however, spot and rust immediately.
Knives rust January 31, 2004 25 out of 26 found this review helpful
This is a beautiful set, but the knives get rust marks on the blades.
